A public art event that allows people of any age or skill level to create a unique work of art. How is it done? Much like the Paint by Numbers activity many enjoyed as children, it involves a pre -sketched outline that is filled in with varying paint colors to create a completed work. A canvas with markings for an unfinished piece is mounted for the public. The piece can be designed by one or multiple artists. Each section of the pre -sketched canvas is marked with a number. Participants may paint at their own pace and do not need any artistic background or experience to participate. This is an activity that can involve a range of ages simultaneously. Purpose The purpose of the Paint by Numbers activity is to create a hands-on cultural experience for the community. The event can foster any goal including fundraising (auction) or creating a donation piece for a local facility. It can be a standalone event or be conducted in conjunction with another public art event. An opportunity for cultural enlightenment and art education, Paint by Numbers can be used as a civic engagement initiative that would bring positive attention to the City of Palm Beach Gardens and the efforts of the AIPP Advisory Board. Art in Public Places Involvement Paint by Numbers is positioned to easily become a signature event for the City and the Art in Public Places Advisory Board. Using the financial resources available to fund community art, as well as the expertise of board members in identifying artists suitable to carry out such an undertaking, the AIPP Advisory Board would be well matched as a shepherd for this initiative.
