OCTOBER 21, 2008
The October 21, 2008 regular meeting of the Art in Public Places Advisory Board of the City of
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, was called to order at 5:34 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the
Municipal Complex, located at 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, by
Chair Lee Bickford.

2 VI. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3 MOTION
4 A motion to approve the minutes from the September 16, 2008 meeting was made by Myra
5 Davis. David Porter seconded. Motion was approved unanimously, 6 -0.

17 Chair Bickford invited 1 st Alternate Susan Tornabene to join the Board on the dais. Shortly
18 after Ms. Tornabene was seated regular member Ellen Dukes arrived. Ms. Dukes took her
19 seat on the dais and Ms. Tornabene returned to the audience.

21 VII. ITEMS BY COUNCIL LIAISON
22 • None.

24 Vlll. UPDATE BY STAFF LIAISON
25 • Kara Irwin, Growth Management Administrator, Staff Liaison, announced the
26 Recommendation to City Council of Gardens Medical Center.
27 • Mark Fuller, artist, presented his revised piece, Stint Tower, and explained the model of
28 his new concept piece for the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.
29 • Discussion among Board members ensued.
30 • David Porter expressed his approval of the piece and requested a lighting plan.
31 * Mr. Fuller explained the red blood cells will be translucent, but not transparent.
32 • Discussion ensued about the lighting, proportions, and location.
33 MOTION
34 A motion was made by Cable Neuhaus for approval of Mark Fuller's art piece, Stint
35 Tower. David Porter seconded with the following conditions: 1. Lighting plan submittal; 2.
36 Pop out cell at top of stint should show; and 3. Description and photo of art be placed

inside the hospital lobby. Cable Neuhaus accepted the conditions. Motion was approved
unanimously, 7 -0.

Mark Fuller was advised to submit the lighting plan to staff.
IX. OLD BUSINESS
• Chair Bickford noted that the flyover art has been re- installed.
X. NEW BUSINESS
• Kara Irwin presented a map of the City and publicly -owned sites.
• There is $870,000.00 in the Art Impact Fund.
• David Porter explained past issues involved with locations for art placement.
• Discussion ensued about the choice of art and placements.
• Kara Irwin explained the City Council approved art locations at PGA Commons along
PGA Boulevard where the art will change.
• David Porter suggested contacting Palm Beach County about putting a piece of art
outside of the courthouse on PGA Boulevard.
• A master plan for art locations was discussed.
• Possible sites for new art will be an agenda item for the November meeting.
• Kara Irwin will e-mail a map of publicly -owned sites to Board members. Myra Davis
requested a hard copy be mailed to her.
• Kara Irwin stated that a company has requested a refund of their contribution to the Art
Impact Fund so they can place art on their property. Lee Bickford suggested the
company may be willing to let the Board choose the art.

I • Jennifer O'Brien noted that the art on PGA Boulevard West of Military Trail is all on
2 the South side of the road and also suggested a published map that shows all of the art
3 locations and describes the pieces.
4 • Jennifer O'Brien suggested a mosaic on the side of the proposed Emergency Operations
5 Center (EOC).
6 • David Porter described the annual banner competition and encouraged the Request for
7 Proposal (RFP) for the EOC incorporate the art in the building design.
8 • David Porter inquired about maintaining the web site pictures of the art through money
9 from the Art Impact Fund. Kara Irwin explained that legal releases were necessary to
10 use a picture of art for the website.

XIII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, Vice Chair Neuhaus made a motion
for adjournment. David Porter seconded. The motion was approved unanimously, 7 -0. The
meeting adjourned at 7:02 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held November 18, 2008.

Step -by -Step directions from City Hall Complex (10500 N Military Trail)
1 Take N Military Trail South To Burns Road /N Military Trail Intersection. At Intersection, Make a
Left onto Burns Road. Make the First Right Into Burns Road Community Center.
7, 3 From Burns Road Community Center, Make a left and head west on Burns Road to Burns Road /N
Military Trail Intersection. Make a left and head south until you get to lilac Street. Make a Left
onto Lilac St and head east until you reach Lilac Athletic Facility and Lilac Park.

Plant Drive Park is directly South of Lilac Park and Lilac Athletic Facility
Take Lilac St east to Plant Dr. Take Plant Dr south to Holly Dr. Make a left onto Holly Dr and head
east until you reach the intersection of Holly Dr /Riverside Dr. Make a left onto Riverside Dr and
head north until you reach the Riverside Youth Enrichment Center.
{ Head north on Riverside Dr until you reach the intersection of Riverside Dr /Burns Rd. Make a
Right onto Burns Rd and head east until you reach the Public Works Facility on your right.
Head east on Burns road until you reach the intersection of Gardens East Dr /Burns Rd. Make a
left onto Gardens East Dr and head north until you reach the Oaks Park on your right.
Head north on Gardens East Drive until you reach the intersection of Gardens East /RCA Blvd.
Head North as Gardens East turns into Campus Dr. Fire Station 2 is on your left.
Head south on Campus Dr until you reach the intersection of Gardens East Dr (Campus Dr) /RCA
Blvd. Make a right onto RCA Blvd and head west until you reach Alternate AlA. Make a left onto
Alternate A1A and proceed south until you reach Lighthouse Dr /Alternate AlA intersection.
Turn right at Lighthouse dr and proceed to turn left at the intersection of Lighthouse Dr /Garden
Blvd (MacArthur Blvd). Proceed south on MacArthur Blvd and Lake Catherine Park is on your
right.
i() Head south on MacArthur Blvd and Lake Catherine Sports Complex is on your left.
Head south on MacArthur Blvd and continue to Northlake Blvd /MacArthur Blvd intersection.
Make a right onto Northlake Blvd and continue west onto Northlake until you reach the
intersection of Northlake Blvd and Hiatt Dr. Make a right onto Hiatt Drive and make a left into
PGA National Park.
Head south on Hiatt Dr to the Northlake Blvd /Hiatt Dr intersection. Make a right onto Northlake
Blvd and continue west until you reach the Palm Beach Gardens Municipal Golf Course on your
right.
