6 The regular meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by Chair Ellis.

9 III. ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE
10 Assistant to the City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to George Wicker, Valerie Fennon,
11 and Joseph Russo Jr.
12 IV. ROLL CALL
13 PRESENT: Chair Carol Ellis, Vice Chair Maryanne Hedrick, Bruce Bonvento, Christopher
14 Dinolfo, George Wicker, Valerie Fennon, Joseph Russo Jr (sitting in for Matthew Lane).
15 ABSENT: Matthew Lane.

19 V. BOARDAPPOINTMENTS
20 1. Appointment of Chair
21 Board Member Bonvento nominated Carol Dutra Ellis for Chair.
22 Board Member Dinolfo seconded.
23 Board Member Wicker nominated Mary Ann Hedrick for Chair.
24 Board Member Hedrick conceded the nomination.
25 Nomination for Carol Dutra Ellis passed 7-0.
26 2. Appointment of Vice Chair
27 Chair Ellis nominated Mary Ann Hedrick for Vice Chair.
28 Board Member Bonvento seconded.
29 Nomination passed 7-0.
30 VI. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS
31 None.
32 VII. APPROVAL OF MINUTES from the May 16, 2016 meeting.
33 Board Member Hedrick made a motion to approve the May 16, 2016 Minutes.
34 Board Member Bonvento seconded.
35 Motion passed 7-0.
36 VIII. ITEMS BY COUNCIL LIAISON
37 Council Liaison, Councilmember Maria Marino
38 Reported Avenir has been approved and will add 55 acres for a public park and 60 acres for the
39 City's golf course; Balsamo will be annexed into the City and 14 acres has been dedicated to the
40 golf course; The Golf Course Clubhouse renovation was approved and is scheduled to be
41 completed by November 2017; The construction for United Technologies at the intersection ofl-
42 95 and Donald Ross Road is underway; The softball field at Lake Catherine was dedicated to
43 former RAB member Tory Buckley who passed away in January; All fire stations are fully
44 staffed; The City acquired 11 r11 Court N. and made all improvements in time for the new school
45 year; Construction continues on Shady Lakes to improve traffic flow for the neighboring schools,
46 Tennis Center, and the Joseph R. Russo Athletic Center; 2017 Budget has been approved and the
4 7 millage rate remains the same . The City implemented a new fee schedule for the use of city
48 facilities; Improvements to City Hall were made which includes a new permanent pavilion

1 dedicated to Vice Mayor Eric Jablin at the Green Market and renovations to Veterans Plaza; City
2 hosted the Cal Ripken 1 OU world series; Improvements will be made around the fields which
3 will include a second story above the concession stands; City hosted Unity Day in memory of
4 Corey Jones; Thanked PBGY AA Board Member Mandy Rattcliff for the invitation to the
5 softball tournament; Thanked City staff for working together as a family.
6 IX. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON
7 Recreation Director Laura Schuppert announced the Tree Lighting will be on Wednesday
8 December 7, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm.
9 X. OLD BUSINESS
10 a. Joseph R. Russo Athletic Complex Construction Update
11 Recreation Director Laura Schuppert provided a brief update and presentation on the Joseph
12 R. Russo Athletic Complex. Discussion ensued.
13 b. Compassionate Friends Memorial Garden Dedication
14 Recreation Director Laura Schuppert reported the project is completed and announced the
15 dedication will be Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11 :00 a.m.
16 c. Golf Clubhouse Update
17 Proiects Director Charlotte Presensky provided a status on the golf course clubhouse
18 construction and announced a completion date of November 2017. Announced upcoming events
19 and projects at the golf course. Announced the youth golf team won the Palm Beach County
20 Summer Jr Program tournament for the fourth year in a row; Head PGA Golf Professional Sherri
21 Pia was the recipient of the PGA Youth Golf Development A ward for PGA South Florida Youth
22 Golflnstructor of the Year.
23 d. Disc Golf
24 Recreation Director Laura Schuppert reported improvements have been made to
25 accommodate disc golf at PGA National Park. Discussion ensued.
26 XI. NEW BUSINESS
27 A. FRDAP Grant Award for Lilac Park Shade Structure
28 Reported the City has been awarded a $50,000 grant for a shade structure at Lilac Park from the
29 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program. Discussion ensued.
30 B. New Park Proiect located at Holly Drive and Ironwood Drive-Ironwood Park
31 Recreation Director Laura Schuppert provided a presentation and video on the new passive
32 park on Holly Drive and Ironwood Drive next to Palm Beach Gardens Elementary School which
33 has a zip line feature. Discussion ensued.
34 XII. COMMENTS BY THE PUBLIC
35 None.
36 XIII. COMMENTS BY THE BOARD
37 Vice Chair Hedrick reported the opening of the Green Market was wonderful; Reported a golf
38 tournament was held at the City's golf course to raise money for the Barry Grunow Scholarship
39 Fund and the staff was wonderful and the golfers expressed their appreciation for the event.
40 Board Member Russo praised staff for a great opening at the Green Market and providing space
41 for additional vendors; Invited members of the Board to participate in the Big Heart Brigade;
42 Chair Ellis attended the Exglosive event at the Tennis Center; Inquired about the boards input
43 on the passive park on Ironwood Road. Discussion ensued.
44 XIV. SET QUARTERLY MEETING DATE
45 The board unanimously selected February 27, 2017.
