PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 8 Mayor Marino asked for prayers for the family of Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue Lieutenant 9 Gary Bussey who passed away on July 5, 2017. 10 II. ROLL CALL 11 PRESENT: Mayor Marino, Vice Mayor Marciano, Councilmember Woods, Councilmember 12 Lane, Councilmember Litt. 13 ABSENT: None. 14 III. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS 15 Mayor Marino requested to modify sentence 5B on page 2 of Resolution 49, 2017 to read "each 16 Councilmember will be entitled to appoint one member to the committee and may provide two 17 or three names for consideration. Each appointment should be subject to and conditioned upon 18 approval by a majority vote of the entire council." 19 Councilmember Woods made a motion to modify Resolution 49, 2017. 20 Councilmember Lane seconded. 21 Motion passed 5-0. 22 IV. ITEMS OF RESIDENT INTEREST AND BOARD/COMMITTEE REPORTS 32 Councilmember Rachelle Litt: Attended the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce 33 Business Before Hours Breakfast, Palm Beach County League of Cities event; Attended Ribbon 34 Cuttings for Lime Cafe, Jupiter Medical Center Urgent Care Facility, and expansion for 35 CrossMatch. 36 Councilmember Matthew Lane: Met with officers of Palm Beach State College and toured the 37 campus; Attended the Palm Beach North Chambers of Commerce State of the Chamber 38 Breakfast; North County Neighborhood Coalition meeting; North County Business Expo; Palm 39 Beach North Chamber of Commerce CEO connection. 40 Councilmember Carl Woods: Provided a brief presentation regarding employee cleanup efforts 41 on Thurston Drive after receiving an email of concern from a resident and displayed a copy of 42 the thank you email from the resident for the City's prompt response; Announced on June 20th, 43 the City's Police Department received a letter from the City of Ft. Lauderdale Fire Chief Robert 44 F. Hoecherl for Police Officer Daniel Abraira thanking him for his quick response to an accident 45 involving a Ft. Lauderdale firefighter in May. 46 Vice Mayor Mark Marciano: Attended the City's Weather the Storm event; North County 47 Neighborhood Coalition meeting; Homewood Suites Business in the Backyard event; Toured the 48 City Fire Stations with Fire Chief Keith Bryer; Ribbon Cutting for Swimtastics. CITY MANAGER REPORT Announced the Purchasing Department received the Universal Public Procurement Certification County 2017 Agency Certification Award; The Police Department received the Florida Law Enforcement Liaison Traffic Safety Challenge A ward from the Florida Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; State of Florida Insurance Consumer Advocate, C. Sha'Ron James will hold a consumer outreach event to address insurance questions and concerns on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Lobby; Councilmember Woods was elected Chair of the Northlake Boulevard Task Force. CITY MANAGER EVALUATION 13 Each Councilmember provided comment. 14 Vice Mayor Marciano expressed his thoughts on the budget process and the millage rate. 15 Discussion ensued. 16 XII. CITY ATTORNEY REPORT 17 City Attorney R. Max Lohman reported the 4th District Court of Appeals reversed the trial 18 court's decision in the Sears lawsuit against the City and the Gardens Mall and ruled in favor of 19 Sears. The appellate court awarded legal fees and ruled Resolution 20, 2012 unconstitutional. 20 Discussion ensued. City Attorney R.
