ITEMS BY STAFF LIASION 24 Staff Liaison Angela Wong introduced City Forester Mark Hendrickson who 25 explained tree trimming proce dures and “hat racking.” 26 Frances Heaslip made a motion for City Forester Mark Hendrickson to research if 27 professional arborists have a code of ethics and a board they answer to. 28 Vice Chair Terrence Brady seconded. 29 Motion passed, 5-0. 30 Staff Liaison Angela Wong reported the Military Trail Gr ants for 2007-2008 were a total 31 of $34,153.00 and the residential Beautification Award nominees are to be submitted by 32 October 15, 2009. Environmental Awards 38 Environmental awards were discussed. Council Liaison David Levy suggested criteria, 39 point scoring standards, and nominati ons come from the business community. 40 B. OLD BUSINESS 27 A. Tree Trimming and “Hat-racking”: City Forester Hendrickson presented an 28 update on the tree trimming industry Code of Ethics. 29 B. Environmental Awards: Discussion ensued regarding ways to encourage 30 community involvement and the application process. 31 C. Adopt-A-Street: Staff Liaison Wong reported a Resolution will be on the City 32 Council agenda in November for the Adopt-A-Street program. 33 VIII. Develop a webpage for the programs: a. Adopt A Street Program b. Environmental Award c. Beautification Award - complete 2. After approval, can create press release to reach Palm Beach Gardens residents - tv, radio, newspaper; however these go to larger audiences other than just Palm Beach Gardens, which is our target audience. 3. Create a new Beautification Award sign 4. Consider removing residentia l category since it is too diverse as well as personal. 5. The Board should consider having a booth at the Green Market (8 AM to 1 PM) on Sundays and the City’s 50 th Anniversary Event on November 21 st (3:15 PM to 9:00 PM at BRCRC - 5000 residents, w ebsite has info) and explaining the program to the attendees. a. Hand out flyers, and cr eate banner that reads: W ho do you think should get a beautification award? 6. Continue articles in Signature City News letter, which goes out electronically to approx. 5,800 individuals. 7. Post winner with award at their location as newsf eed on front page of City’s website 8. Council Liaison to announce dead lines at Council Meetings 9. Contact the Chamber of Commerce to advertise programs. 10. Board members to contact HOAs/POAs to announce programs. 11. Include program brochures in occupat ional license renewa ls – next July.
