As per Section 2 -92, Officers, all boards and committees shall, at a meeting during the first quarter of the fiscal year, elect a chairperson and vice - chairperson. The appointment of the chair, Terrance Brady and the vice - chair, David Anderson was done on November 4, 2009. The next appointment will be made during the first quarter of fiscal year 2010. CALL TO ORDER 7 The regular meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by Vice Chair Terence Brady. 8 II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 9 III. ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON 16 Frances Heaslip made a motion nominating Terence Brady for Chairperson. 17 Mark Lenow seconded. 18 Motion passed 7 -0. 19 David Anderson made a motion nominating Frances Heaslip for Vice Chairperson. 20 Frances Heaslip declined the nomination. 21 Frances Heaslip made a motion nominating David Anderson for Vice Chairperson. 22 Chair Brady seconded. 23 Motion passed 7 -0. 24 V. ITEMS BY COUNCIL LIAISON 34 Council Liaison David Levy welcomed the new board members and reported on 35 upcoming events. 36 VIII. ITEMS BY STAFF LIASION 37 Staff Liaison Wong noted the distribution of Ordinance 35, 2009 to board members, 38 introduced Code Enforcement Compliance Supervisor Mohammed Jamal who 39 reported on the status of maintenance issues at the Palm Beach Gardens Post Office and 40 marketing programs. 41 IX. OLD BUSINESS 42 A. Beautification Awards — Residential Category Selection 43 Dan Hackman nominated 511 Riverside Drive. 44 Frances Heaslip seconded. 45 Motion passed 7 -0. 46 B. Development of Environmental Quality Awards Program 47 Environmental award categories, standards and nomination process were discussed. 48 Public Comments: Kelly Hanna, 327 Riverside Drive, Palm Beach Gardens. ADJOURNMENT Frances Heaslip made a motion to adjourn. Mark Lenow seconded. Motion passed 5 -0. The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held February 3, 2010. Through the awards, the City looks to recognize and show appreciation for those who give back to the environment, and encourage others to get involved! ELIGIBILITY: Open to any citizen, business, or organization based within the City limits, or schools with at least 10 percent of their students being City residents, that have demonstrated outstanding efforts to improve Palm Beach Garden's environment - either for a single project or over a period of time. SCOPE OF THE AWARDS: Examples of environmen- tally- friendly programs and projects include, but are not limited to: Pollution prevention /recycling /green purchasing Greenhouse gas emissions reductions Generation or purchase of alternative energy Energy and water conservation measures Environmental Management Systems Tree planting and management Invasive species and integrated pest management (IPM) Stream monitoring and restoration programs Environmental education Other innovative environmental enhancement ideas or projects DEADLINE: Early submission is encouraged! The deadline is 5 p.m. on June 30th of each year. JUDGING: The Community Aesthetics Board will evaluate the applications based upon program effectiveness, innovation, and endurance.
