ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PRESENTATIONS 15 Councilmember Marciano offered congratulations to boys and girls who participated in the Palm 16 Beach Gardens Soccer Program. 17 Mayor Litt recessed the meeting at 6:01 p.m. to join the teams on Veterans Plaza. 18 Mayor Litt resumed the meeting at 6: 11 p.m. 19 V. CITY MANAGER REPORT 24 City Manager, Ron Ferris reported that Palm Beach Gardens Police Explorers won the 2021 25 Florida Association Police Explorers Competition. The City and Palm Beach Gardens Youth 26 Athletic Association (PBGYAA) will be hosting the Cal Ripken 10-Year-Old and Major World 27 Series at Gardens Park August 6 -August 14, 2021. An estimated 1,200 people will be visiting 28 the City from across the country, resulting in reservations for approximately 550 hotel rooms. The 29 City has received many accolades for the layout, conditioning, and maintenance of its playing 30 fields. He thanked City departments for their involvement and hospitality to visiting teams. 31 Discussion ensued. 32 • Following the City Manager Report, Mayor Litt provided an update on COVID-19 cases in the 33 community and noted the City has reinstated its mask requirement in all City buildings due to 34 an increase in COVID-19 infections. 35 VII. Direction can be 10 received from the communication with each other at a City Council meeting . 11 Councilmembers concession reached by all Council. 12 Councilmember Reed noted the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council issued a report on 13 hurricane evacuation routes for residents of Palm Beach County. A copy will be provided to the 14 City Manager and Councilmembers. As non-biodegradable materials are often a danger to wildlife 15 and the environment, she requested City Attorney, R. Max Lohman research adding balloons 16 and confetti to the City's polystyrene materials resolution. Research is needed to make sure it is 17 appropriate for City property. Discussion ensued. 18 XI.
