PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 8 II. ROLL CALL 9 PRESENT: Mayor Reed, Vice Mayor Litt, Councilmember Woods, Councilmember Marciano, 10 Councilmember Tinsley. 11 ABSENT: None. 12 III. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS 13 None. 14 IV. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PRESENTATIONS 15 a. POLICE DEPARTMENT NATIONAL AND STATE REACCREDITATION. 16 Police Chief, Clint Shannon recognized Accreditation Manager, Sam Dobson and Police 17 Major, Robert Wilson for their stewardship in assisting the Police Department in achieving 18 reaccreditation by the Commission of Florida Accreditation (CF A) at an Excelsior level, and 19 reaccreditation by the Commission of Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) 20 at a Meritorious level. The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department is only one of two law 21 enforcement agencies in the County duly accredited, and only one of 24, out of 387 law 22 enforcement agencies in the State of Florida. 23 b. CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS UPDATE. 24 City Manager, Ron Ferris complimented the City's Capital Improvement Projects Team for 25 their wonderful job in overseeing capital improvements and in saving taxpayer money. In 26 providing comprehensive project updates, Community Services Administrator, David Reyes 27 was accompanied by City Engineer, Todd Engle, Director of Public Services, Cory Wilder, 28 Operations Manager, Jennifer Nelli, Fire Deputy Chief of Administration, Shon Brodell, 29 Deputy Community Services Administrator, Angela Brown, Public Works Operations 30 Manager, Chris Denhart, Police Chief, Clint Shannon, and Finance Manager, Arienne 31 Panczak. The City's team approach has been most effective in expediting projects through in- 32 house cooperative management, saving time and money. Community Services Administrator, 33 David Reyes expressed appreciation to City Manager, Ron Ferris and Councilmembers for 34 their support of City staff. Discussion ensued. 35 V. CITY MANAGER REPORT 39 City Manager, Ron Ferris reported the Police Department held a Drug Take-Back Day on 40 Saturday, April 30, in front of the police station. A total of 184 pounds of expired prescription 41 medications were collected, as well as 10 pounds of over-the-counter medications, and 20 42 EpiPens. The City's Memorial Day Ceremony will occur on Monday, May 30 at 9:00 a.m. at 43 the Veterans Plaza Amphitheater. He introduced Public Media Relations Director, Candice 44 Temple and Fire Chief, Keith Bryer, who presented the City's public service announcement 45 (PSA), Stroke Wars, featured on May 4 on the City's website and social media channels to 46 highlight Stroke Awareness Month and the importance of quickly recognizing the warning signs 4 7 of a stroke. Fire Rescue will be doing stroke risk assessments for employees and a stroke 48 awareness lecture will be given on Tuesday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. in the Emergency Operations CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING 5-05-2022 PAGE 1 1 Center (EOC). Discussion ensued. 23 Councilmember Tinsley requested two changes: having the developer provide transparency of 24 notice of being across the way from the Economic Development Parcel in their documents, as 25 well as the inclusion of a break within the median associated with the entry drive on Coconut 26 Boulevard providing a safe U-turn. 27 Staff supported the two changes. 28 Vice Mayor Litt made a motion to amend her motion to approve Resolution 23, 2022 with the 29 two changes. 30 Councilmember Tinsley seconded the amended motion. 31 Motion passed 5-0. 32 IX. ITEMS FOR COUNCIL ACTION/DISCU SSION AND ITEMS OF INTEREST: 2 Councilmember Marciano wished all mothers a Happy Mother's Day. 3 Councilmember Tinsley concurred and expressed best wishes for a Happy Mother's Day. She 4 rep orted on the Flori da D ep artment of Transp ortation's (F D OT) virtual meeting pertaining to 5 its planned improvements at the intersection of State Road 7 and Northl ake Boulevard. The 6 design presented was confusing, and clarification was needed. 7 City Manager, Ron Ferris indicated he would look into having an FDOT presentation at a 8 Council meeting as well as a traffic evaluation done by the City's traffic consultant on the 9 prop osed changes. 10 Mayor Reed reported the City's Annual Fire Inspection Report and the latest issue of Signature 11 City Magazine are avai lable on the City's website. 12 XI.
