CALL TO ORDER 8 II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 9 III. ROLL CALL 10 PRESENT: Vice Chair Kelly Rogers, Keith Ahronheim, Matthew Kamula, Jason Moraes, 11 Nicholas Russo, Matthew Zudans, and Bobby Wunderlich. 12 ABSENT: None. 13 ALSO PRESENT: 14 Staff Liaison, Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto; Director of Public Services, 15 Cory Wilder; Operations Manager Sports, Tim Ford; Recreation Supervisor, Ashley Shipman, and 16 Recreation Supervisor, Amy Stepper. 17 IV. ELECTION OF CHAIR 18 Board Member Moraes made a motion to appoint Kelly Rogers as Chair. 19 Board Member Zudans seconded. 20 Motion passed 7-0. 21 V. ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR 22 Board Member Russo made a motion to appoint Jason Moraes as Vice Chair. 23 Board Member Wunderlich seconded. 24 Motion passed 7-0. 25 VI. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS 26 None. 27 VII. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 28 A. September 27, 2021 29 Board Member Ahronheim made a motion to approve the September 27, 2021, minutes. 30 Board Member Zudans seconded. 31 Motion passed 7-0. 32 B. November 15, 2021 33 Board Member Ahronheim made a motion to approve the November 15, 2021, minutes. 34 Board Member Wunderlich seconded. 35 Motion passed 7-0. 36 VIII. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON 37 A. Recreation Overview & Events 38 Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto highlighted the success of the ArtiGras Fine 39 Arts Festival and the Honda Classic Tournament. The Recreation Job Fair will take place on March 40 25 at 3:00 p.m-7:00 p.m., and March 26 at 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and will feature full-time and part- 41 time employment opportunities. 42 Recreation Supervisor, Ashley Shipman presented the Glow with the Flow Egg Hunt on April 8 at 43 6:00 p.m. at Gardens Park. The Memorial Day ceremony will be on May 30 at 9:00 a.m. at the 44 Veterans Plaza Amphitheater. The Gardens GreenMarket will be staying in its home location all year. 45 Summer Camp will run May 3 1 - August 5, and registration is currently open. 46 PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD REGULAR MEETING PAGE 03-21-22 1 B. Gardens Art Program 2 Recreation Supervisor, Amy Stepper gave an overview of the Gardens Art Program including the 3 rotating art exhibits in City buildings, features in Signature City Magazine, and local artist 4 demonstrations and classes offered at the GreenMarket. 5 C. Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Project Updates — Parks/Aquatics 6 Director of Public Services, Cory Wilder presented an update on the Sports Field Lighting — LED 7 Retrofit project and the Gardens Park expansion project including the playground, bleacher covers, 8 and the bank shot basketball courts. The shade covers at District Park are expected in April. The 9 closure schedule for the multipurpose fields and the baseball/softball fields was presented. Discussion 10 ensued. 11 Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto shared the progression of the main pool 12 renovation project. Discussion ensued. 13 IX. NEW BUSINESS 14 A. RFQ2022-018CS BRCC Modernization and Expansion 15 Deputy Service Administrator, Daniel Prieto stated the request for qualifications was under review. 16 B. CAPRA Accreditation 17 Deputy Service Administrator, Daniel Prieto shared the mission, standards, and benefits of the 18 Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). The Recreation 19 Department is in the process for CAPRA approval. Discussion ensued. 20 X. COMMENTS BY THE PUBLIC 21 None. 22 X1. COMMENTS BY THE BOARD 23 Board Member Russo thanked Recreation Supervisor, Amy Stepper, and staff for orchestrating 24 an amazing Daddy Daughter Date Night on March 4 at Sandhill Crane Golf Club. 25 Recreation Supervisor, Amy Stepper expressed appreciation as it was well attended. Discussion 26 ensued. 27 X11. ADJOURNMENT Vice Chair Moraes made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Board Member Ahronheim seconded. Motion passed 7-0. Chair Rogers adjourned the meeting at 2:22 p.m. The next meeting will be held on May 16, 2022. (The May 16, 2022, meeting was canceled, and the next scheduled meeting will be held on October 31, 2022).
