ITEMS BY STAFF LIASION 33 Staff Liaison Wong announced new board member appointments and secon d reading of 34 Ordinance 13 , 2010 , Dumpster/Recycling, will take place at the Thursday, October 7, 35 2010 City Council meeting . 36 IX. Military Trail Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 A mission of the Community Aesthetics Board is to ensure that the City of Palm Beach Gardens is A Signature City through recognition of environmentally -friendly projects. MISSION THE COMMUNITYAESTHET ICS BOARD CITY OF PALM BEACH G ARDENS The City of Palm Beach Gardens’ Mayor and City Council and the Community Aesthetics Board invite you to participate in the Environmental Awards Program. Through the awards, the City looks to recognize and show appreciation for those who give back to the environment, and encourage others to get involved! ELIGIBILITY : Open to any citizen, business, or organization based within the City limits, or schools with at least 10 percent of their students being City residents, that have demonstrated outstanding efforts to improve Palm Beach Gardens’ environment - either for a single project or over a period of time. SCOPE OF THE AWARDS : Examples of environmen- tally -friendly programs and projects include, but are not limited to: · Pollution Prevention · Green Purchasing · Recycling / Waste Reduction · Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reductions · Generation or Purchase of Alternative Energy · Energy and Water Conservation Measures · Environmental Management Systems · Tree Planting and Management · Invasive Species Management · Integrated Pest Management (IPM) · Canal Monitoring and Restoration Programs · Environmental Education · Pesticide/Fertilizer Programs · Other innovative environmental enhancement ideas or projects DEADLINE : Early submission is encouraged! The deadline is 5 p.m. on September 30th of each year. Program Description JUDGING : The Community Aesthetics Board will evaluate the applications based upon program effectiveness, innovation, and endurance. Nomination Form Revised 11/23/2010 ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION Since 2000 the Palm Beach Gardens Woman’s Club has hosted the annual Arbor Day Celebration in the City of Palm Beach Gardens . The celebration of Arbor Day in Florida occurs on the third Friday in January .This year’s event will be held on Friday,January 21 st at 9 :30 A .M .at the Honor Park on the south end of Lake Catherine Park along the lakeside . School children, parent, residents and City officials will be on hand to celebrate the day, learn about the origins of Arbor Day and to plant a selected flowering tree, this year a Frangipani tree. There will also be a distribution of bare root seedlings for home planting.
