I. CALL TO ORDER II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE Agenda Coordinator, Renata Schwedhelm administered the Oath of Office to newly appointed Second Alternate Faith Myer. IV. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Chair Kelly Rogers, Keith Ahronheim, Matthew Kamula, Nicholas Russo, Matthew Zudans, Bobby Wunderlich and First Alternate Ron McElhone. ABSENT: Vice Chair Jason Moraes. ALSO PRESENT: City Attorney, R. Max Lohman; Leisure Services Administrator, Charlotte Presensky; Staff Liaison, Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto; Operations Manager Leisure Services, Monette Preston; Operations Manager Sports, Tim Ford; Operations Manager, Ashley Shipman; Operations Manager, Louise Jordan and Recreation Supervisor, Amy Stepper. V. ELECTION OF CHAIR Board Member Wunderlich made a motion to appoint Kelly Rogers as Chair. Board Member Ahronheim seconded. Motion passed 7-0. VI. ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR Board Member Zudans made a motion to appoint Bobby Wunderlich as Vice Chair. Board Member Russo seconded. Motion passed 7-0. VII. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS None. VIII. APPROVAL OF MINUTES from the March 21, 2022, meeting. Board Member Kamula made a motion to approve the March 21, 2022, minutes. Board Member Ahronheim seconded. Motion passed 7-0. IX. BOARD ORIENTATION City Attorney, R. Max Lohman conducted the annual Board Orientation. X. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON A. Recreation Overview & Events Operations Manager Leisure Services, Monette Preston discussed community engagement programs and City-wide events, including the Gardens GreenMarket, the Fall Festival, Veterans Salute Celebration, Stories in the Park, Community Concert series, as well as winter holiday happenings including the Holiday Bazaar, the Tree Lighting, and the Gardens Trailblazer 5K. Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto thanked Operations Manager Leisure Services, Monette Preston and Operations Manager, Ashley Shipman for their work in orchestrating the Fall Festival event and introduced newly appointed Second Alternate Faith Myer and welcomed her to the Board. GardensArt Program Update 2 Recreation Supervisor, Amy Stepper presented an update on the GardensArt Program including 3 the rotating art exhibits in City buildings, artist demonstrations at the GreenMarket, and the annual 4 resident photo contest. Artists have donated their works to auction at the annual Mayor's Veterans 5 Golf Classic on November 5 at Sandhill Crane Golf Club, benefitting the West Palm Beach Veterans 6 Resource Center. GardensArt is consistently recognized in the Art & Culture magazine produced by 7 the Palm Beach County Cultural Council. Discussion ensued. 8 XI. NEW BUSINESS 9 A. Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Project Updates 10 Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto provided an overview of the CIP projects 11 including the sports field lighting — LED retrofit project, the completion of the Gardens Park 12 expansion bleacher covers, bank shot basketball courts renovations, Lake Catherine Park bleacher 13 cover upgrades and Fields 1 and 2 renovation, the Lilac Park playground upgrade for summer 2023, 14 the upcoming competition pool renovation, and the resurfacing of the Oaks Park tennis court. The 15 remodeling progress of the main pool construction project was detailed with pictures, including the 16 newly installed water slide. Discussion ensued. 17 B. Middle School Initiative 18 Operation Manager, Louise Jordan presented the Teen Initiative that will provide a safe, positive, 19 engaging environment for volunteer opportunities, hands-on programs to teach life skills, and 20 innovative special events for students. Discussion ensued. 21 XII. COMMENTS BY THE PUBLIC 22 None. 23 XIII. COMMENTS BY THE BOARD 24 Board Member Russo inquired about next year's Daddy Daughter Dance event. 25 Recreation Supervisor, Amy Stepper informed the Board that it is scheduled for March 17, 2023, 26 with the theme Shamrock Shenanigans at Sandhill Crane Golf Club. 27 Chair Rogers expressed concern about wasps around the softball fields and under the bleachers. 28 Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto noted it would be taken care of and thanked 29 her for the information. 30 XIV.
