FIREHOUSE MAGAZINE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAFETY OFFICERS 16 ASSOCIATION 2022 EMERGENCY VEHICLE TECHNICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD. 17 Deputy Fire Chief, James Ippolito presented Fire Rescue Emergency Vehicle Technician, 18 Robert Steelman, the award for being named the 2022 Emergency Vehicle Technician of the 19 Year by Firehouse Magazine and the Fire Department Safety Officers' Association (FDSOA). 20 b. 2022 SMART GROWTH EXCELLENCE AWARD PRESENTATION BY THE SMART 21 GROWTH PARTNERSHIP. 22 Nadia Locke and Marianne Winfield of the Smart Growth Partnership presented the 2022 23 Smart Growth Excellence Award in the Programs, Policies and Regulations Award Category to 24 the City for the development of its innovative mobility plan. Director of Planning & Zoning, 25 Natalie Crowley recognized the team's hard work and the collaboration of colleagues involved 26 in preparing the plan. 27 City Manager, Ron Ferris congratulated Director of Planning & Zoning, Natalie Crowley 28 for winning the Palm Beach County Complete Streets Champion Award at the Safe Streets 29 Summit on February 3, 2023. CITY MANAGER REPORT 33 City Manager, Ron Ferris reported a community meeting is scheduled on March 8 at 6:00 p.m. 34 at Sandhill Crane Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse regarding the Vintage Oaks proposed 35 development consisting of 20 buildings with I I I units. The applicant will present information 36 on the proposed development at the southwest corner of the intersection of Northlake Boulevard 37 and 112th Terrace. City staff will be there to address questions. He announced the City's 38 Purchasing Department had received the Sterling Agency Award from the Universal Public 39 Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) and Accreditation for Quality Public Procurement 40 Departments (QPPD) from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. 41 Congratulations was given to Purchasing and Contracts Director, Km! Ra for his outstanding 42 work and excellent service. Leisure Services Administrator, Charlotte Presensky was 43 recognized for her leadership in planning and overseeing two successful City -hosted events: 44 ArtiGras (February 18-19) and The Honda Classic (February 23-26). ITEMS FOR COUNCIL ACTION/DISCUSSION AND ITEMS OF INTEREST: 21 Vice Mayor Litt announced she and Mayor Reed will be going to Tallahassee for Palm Beach 22 County Day 2023 happening March 7-8 to advocate for home rule and mobility. 23 Councilmember Tinsley requested an update on the status of obtaining railroad crossing quiet 24 zones in the City. City Engineer, Todd Engle provided an overview of the process and 25 procedures necessary for quiet zones to be established. Discussion ensued. 26 Councilmember Tinsley expressed concern regarding House Bill 401, the Sovreign Immunity 27 Bill. City Manager, Ron Ferris commented the City's lobbyist is present, and any action to 28 take at this point is too premature. Discussion ensued. 29 Mayor Reed announced March is Florida Bicycle Month and referenced the City's 30 proclamation on the Consent Agenda. She encouraged the community to take advantage of 31 bicycling in Florida and indicated the Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) has more 32 information on its website. 33 XI.
