CALL TO ORDER 8 II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 9 III. ROLL CALL 10 PRESENT: Vice Chair Bobby Wunderlich, Keith Ahronheim, Matthew Kamula, Jason Moraes, 11 Nicholas Russo, Matthew Zudans, and Second Alternate Faith Myer. 12 ABSENT: First Alternate Ron McElhone. 13 ALSO PRESENT: 14 Leisure Services Administrator, Charlotte Presensky; Staff Liaison, Deputy Leisure Services 15 Administrator, Daniel Prieto; Director of Public Services, Cory Wilder; Operations Manager Leisure 16 Services, Monette Preston and Operations Manager Aquatics, Erin Anderson. 17 IV. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS 18 None. 19 V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES from the April 17, 2023, meeting. 20 Board Member Ahronheim made a motion to approve the April 17, 2023, minutes. 21 Board Member Kamula seconded. 22 Motion passed 7-0. 23 VI. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON 24 A. Summer/ Fall Events 25 Operations Manager Leisure Services, Monette Preston discussed community engagement and 26 events for the fall and winter season, including the Gardens GreenMarket 22°d Season Kickoff, Films 27 on the Field, the Fall Festival, the Community Concert Series, the Tree Lighting event, and the 28 Gardens 5K Trailblazer walk or run family event with a holiday movie. Discussion ensued. 29 B. Operational Highlight — Aquatic Complex 30 Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto introduced Operations Manager Aquatics, 31 Erin Anderson to the Board who gave an update on the operations of the main pool complex since 32 opening on Memorial Day weekend. Discussion ensued. 33 VII. OLD BUSINESS 34 A. Capital Improvement Plan Update 35 Director of Public Services, Cory Wilder presented project updates to Lake Catherine Park, Lilac 36 Park, the tennis maintenance building, and the competition pool. Discussion ensued. 37 B. Burns Road Community Center Update 38 Leisure Services Administrator, Charlotte Presensky presented the modernization and expansion 39 update on Burns Road Community Center with construction beginning September 2023. The closure 40 duration will be for 1.5 years with a projected completion in spring 2025. There is detailed 41 construction information on the City's website with frequently asked questions for the public. 42 Discussion ensued. 43 VIII. NEW BUSINESS 44 A. Lilac Park Pickleball Improvements 45 Deputy Leisure Services Administrator, Daniel Prieto presented an overview of the Lilac Park 46 pickleball expansion project with the construction of 24 new pickleball courts. COMMENTS BY THE BOARD 2 Board Member Russo remarked the children's playground metal bridge at Burns Road 3 Community Park needed attention due to rusting and safety concerns. 4 Director of Public Services, Cory Wilder noted that it would be looked at right away. 5 XI. ADJOURNMENT Board Member Kamula made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Board Member Ahronheim seconded. Motion passed 7-0. Vice Chair Wunderlich adjourned the meeting at 2:26 p.m. The next meeting will be held on October 16, 2023. (The October 16, 2023, meeting was canceled, and the next scheduled meeting will be held on January 22, 2024).
