The November 7, 2001, regular meeting of the PBG B &E Committee has called
to order by Donna Wisneski at 5:40 P.M. in the Growth Management
Department meeting room of the Municipal Complex located at 10500 North
Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The following members were in
attendance: Connie Premuroso, Jeff Renault, Betty Marks, Richard Mulligan,
William Olsen, Richard Beladino and Donna Wisneski. City Staff Liaison Mark
Hendrickson was present.
Approval of the minutes:
The August 1, 2001 and September 5, 2001 meeting minutes were approved.
Items by the City Council Liaison and Staff Liaison
Mark handed out the Certificate of Appreciation to the members that could not
attend the Advisory Board and Volunteer Recognition Night.
Mark introduced Mike Kelly with the Parks Department. Mike tells the
members what he is doing to finish the landscaping, irrigation and
maintenance around City Hall. Mike advised the Committee about the Parks
Department involvement in maintaining Frenchmen's Forest Natural Area.
Mark advised the Committee that the Burns Road landscape plan has
changed, and he will bring the new plan back to the Committee for review.
Old Business
City Wide Roadway Beautification Plan — City Forester Mark Hendrickson
asked the Committee to formalize their comments about the Plan. One
concern from previous discussions had been how it may applied to the
older sections of the City. A long discussion lead to ideas such as
requiring existing trees to remain, relocation of trees and /or requiring curb
and gutter.
Mark suggested that he could work on the intent section language to
require tree protection, and expand on the nonconforming section. The
language would require the roads to be engineered so that the least
amount of tree removal would occur. If vegetation is removed, then
vegetation should be replaced per the new standard.
New Business
a) Arbor Day: Mark requested the Committee's guidance on using the Arbor
Day that the Women's Club had last February 2001 as the Tree USA
requirement rather than doing another. He also suggested that the Committee
contact the Woman's Club and combine our 2002 Arbor Day plans together.
Jack thought it might be a good idea. Connie makes a motion that Donna and
Mark to work on contacting the Woman's Club to see if they are interested.
Motion passed.
Richard asked why the B &E Committee was not getting any recognition.
Donna suggests making this a topic for another agenda.
The next meeting will be December 5, 2001.
