WEDNESDAY - MAY 21, 2003
The meeting began at approximately 10:10 AM. Present were the following:
Kasey Booker (Christfellowship Church); Alma Reinke (St. Mark's Episcopal); Dale
George (St. Mark's Episcopal); Father John Kasparek (St. Ignatius Loyola
Cathedral); Murtaza Kakli (Muslim Community); Bulent Kastarlak (Islamic Cultural
Centre); Norman Benz (Covenant Centre); Joe Franks (Cornerstone Presbyterian
Church); Carol Estrada (Church in the Gardens); Joseph Russo, Pete Bergel,
Janice Massie and Eileen Stephenson (City of Palm Beach Gardens).
• Request to have name plates with affiliation
• A change in the notes from 04- 30 -03, a parishioner helped deliver
Thanksgiving dinners, not Father Kasparek.
• Possibly missed an opportunity to get together as a group to extend
support for families whose relatives was sent overseas.
• The Spirit Team for Palm Beach Gardens has banners at all City buildings
in support of our Troops. If a name needs to be added on, call Eileen at
799 -4315. Also, yellow ribbons have been placed on trees at the entrance
to Station #1 and City Plaza.
• A suggestion was brought to the table that education and cultural events
be tied into this group. Have speakers or have literature passed out.
• Also brought to the table was that group needs to be strengthened and
organized. There is a call for volunteers from congregations.
• Future plans are to be able to rally together as a group to react to any
situation or crisis.
• Not looking to worship together, but to become involved in projects in an
emergency /crisis situation.
• Dale George offered an outline for emergency situations that will be
submitted to Gardens United for review.
• Find out from the Solid Waste Authority when the next "Paint Your House"
campaign will be.
• Agreed that the Group will select what projects are to be done.
• Striving to have a quicker response time if an emergency /crisis arises.
• The Group should not become involved in any political issues, but do
become involved with situations that the Group can change. The Group
must stay focused in helping the community.
• The next Gardens United Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 18th at
10:00 AM in Station #1.
• Meeting adjourned at 11:00 AM.
