Minutes
May 22, 2003
Meeting was called to order at 8:02 am on May 22, 2003.

Additional Notes:
• Jeanne Mills informed staff of her desire to be utilized as a resource and not as a standing
member of the EDOC. She will attend meetings when education issues, as related to the
School District of Palm Beach County, are discussed.
• Barbara Cottrell will attend future meetings as a consultant / facilitator for the Committee.
• Elayne Adams will represent the PGA Corridor Association when Lou Gaeta is unable to
attend.
Election of Chair and Vice Chair was held with following results:
• Ed Sabin (3i — Implant Innovations, Inc.), Chair
Jim Griffin (John C. Bills Enterprises), Vice Chair

■ Economic Development Oversight Committee handbook was distributed.
■ Discussion ensued regarding mission of the group.
o Value added job recruitment vs. expansion. Definition of value added jobs.
■ Discussion on priorities and action plans.
o Clarification of "Inter- Connectivity" from SWOT Workshop: links or connectivity
between transportation systems (e.g. bus, Tri -Rail, private vehicle).
• Group decided that information was needed prior to developing priorities / action plans.
• Need to assess what "we have" (assets) in order to move forward.
• Business environment provided by the municipality.
• Work in concert with various groups so that efforts are not duplicated.
• City should extend a "warm embrace" to prospects and "red- flag" projects that would
result in job acquisition.
• Re- development issues / opportunities.
■ Group requested that Charles Wu, Growth Management Administrator for the City of Palm
Beach Gardens, be invited to next meeting to update group on the City's growth policy.
o Comprehensive Plan — land usage.
o Annexation projections.
0 20 / 20 Road Plan.
Meeting adjourned at 9:10 am.
Note: Next meeting is scheduled for June 26th at 8:30 am in the Police Community Room — City
Hall Complex.
