ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD
December 9, 2004
Minutes
The Economic Development Advisory Board met on December 9, 2004. The meeting was
called to order at 8:36 AM in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Complex, located at
10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and opened with the Pledge of
Allegiance.
I. ROLL CALL
Present: Eric Habecker, David Haysmer, Mark Murnan, Casey Steinbacher, Frank
Compiani, and James Kissel. Elaine Beers joined the meeting at 8:39 AM and Lou
Gaeta joined the meeting at 8:40 AM.
Also Present: Dolores Key, Staff Liaison and Economic Development/Marketing
Administrator, Amy Luetkemeyer, Alternate Staff Liaison and Public Relations
Director, and Susan Bell, Public Information/ Recording Coordinator
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The Board approved the minutes from the November 18, 2004 meeting.
III. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON
The Honda Classic
Dolores Key announced that the City will once again host The Honda Classic which
will be held the week of March 7, 2005. The Honda Classic will provide a corporate
booth and sky box for the City to utilize. Dolores suggested that the members of the
Economic Development Advisory Board staff the sky box and act as good will
ambassadors to relocation business prospects. Dolores is going to send out
invitations to prospective businesses that registered at the Bio 2004 convention and
look to the North Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and the Business
Development Board of Palm Beach County for names of businesses that have a
sincere interest in moving to the City.
The Scripps Project Update
Dolores stated that some misinformation had been distributed / printed in reference
to the Mecca / Vavrus DRI process. The process is still ongoing and has not
stopped. Additionally, the Board of County Commissioners has asked the City of
Palm Beach Gardens to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the
Briger Tract as an alternative site for the Scripps project. Dolores stated that as part
of the due diligence process, the City compiled an analysis showing how the Briger
Tract could accommodate 8 million square feet.

IV. OLD BUSINESS
Traffic Concurrency
Lou Gaeta stated that he asked Charlie Walker come to speak to the Board about
traffic concurrency in Palm Beach County. Mr. Walker declined. Therefore, Lou
gave the Board a historical background of the County's thoroughfare plan. There
was discussion about the traffic concurrency situation and implications on economic
growth. The issue was highlighted by Anspach's experience and how traffic is
stopping them from being able to expand to their full potential at their current
location.
V. NEW BUSINESS
The Board discussed coming up with a strategic plan for redevelopment for the next
five to ten years. The Board requested that staff prepare a report identifying
properties that may be eligible for redevelopment in the next 10 -15 years. Lou
Gaeta will keep trying to secure someone from the County to speak to the Board
about the ongoing traffic concurrency problem. In addition, members discussed the
possibility of developing a plan to educate residents about this ongoing problem.
VI. NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be January 13, 2004 at 8:30 AM.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 AM.
