II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — November 3, 2004 The board did not approve the minutes from the November 3, 2004 meeting, because they would like the minutes to reflect a discussion regarding members being excused for missing the October 6, 2004 meeting due to not receiving notification until after the meeting date. Susan Bell, the Recording Coordinator, stated she would add this discussion to the November 3, 2004 minutes and bring them back for approval at the next meeting. III. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON Mark has filled out the application for Tree U.S.A. re- certification. The members of this board are considered the Tree Board and therefore all board members are listed on the application. The application has been signed by the City Manager. This will be the 17`h time the City of Palm Beach Gardens will be certified as a Tree City. IV. OLD BUSINESS A. McArthur Boulevard Landscape Plan The board has had time to review the plans that were given to them at the last meeting. There was discussion and suggestions about the types of tress and plants that were being planted along McArthur Blvd. The board was upset because the project has already been started and they didn't understand why at this point they were being asked for their input when the project was already underway. They were concerned about the color of the plants and they would like Mark to see if they could add colored plants as opposed to the all white plants that are ready to be planted. Mark said he will look into it and get back to them. The board told Mark that in the future they would like to be able to make recommendations before the project actually gets started. Mark discussed the background of this project and explained the reason this was done so quickly was for the safety of the residents in the area and the students who attend Howell Watkins Middle School which is located on McArthur Blvd. B. Arbor Day — January 21, 2005 The Arbor Day celebration will take place at Sandhill Crane Park on January 21, 2005 at 2:00 PM. They will invite all council members but would like to ask Councilman David Levy to read the Arbor Day Proclamation. The board voted 7 -0 to plant a Cypress Tree which will be planted by the water. V. NEW BUSINESS A. Hurricane Restoration Literature and Green Market The City Manager would like this board to set up a booth at the Green Market to hand out literature about tree removal and pruning during hurricane season. They will also introduce themselves to residents and hand out seedlings. Mark said he would like to do this on January 23, 2005 in order to tie in with the Arbor Day weekend celebration that is January 21, 2005. The board agreed to man the booth in different shifts so they are not too many people in the booth at one time. VI. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held on January 6, 2004 at 5:30 PM. The board will elect a new chair and vice chair at the next meeting. VII. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:48 PM.
