Minutes
The Community Aesthetics Board met on October 4, 2006. The meeting was called to
order by Chairperson Donna Wisneski at 5:40 p.m. in the Council Chambers Conference
Room of the Municipal Complex located at 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach
Gardens, Florida, and was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
I. ROLL CALL
Members Present: Donna Wisneski — Chairperson
William Olsen — Vice Chairperson
Sherry Levy
Members Absent: Bettie Marks
Gail Vastola
Vacancies: 2 regular members
2 alternate members
Also present: Vice Mayor and Council Liaison, Jody Barnett
Alternate Staff Liaison, Brad Wiseman
H. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The Board approved the minutes from the September 7, 2006 meeting.
III. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON
Announcements:
(1) Sandhill Crane Park will begin construction in October.
(2) Board appointments and re- appointments on the October 5I' City Council Agenda.
(3) November meeting date change: November 8, 2006. A charrette will be held on
the regular meeting date of November I" that causes a conflict. Board members
agreed that the meeting would be rescheduled to November 8t'.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
No old business was discussed.
V. NEW BUSINESS
Preferred Species List was distributed by Brad Wiseman to Board Members. Donna
Wisneski asked why the specific items on this list were chosen. Brad Wiseman stated it
was because of the zones and how a plant will grow within that area. It has to do with
whether it is a native plant. Donna Wisneski asked about the point system used. Brad

Wiseman said points were given for number, size, type of plant or tree. Buffers are also
defined so blank areas will not occur. William Olsen asked about trees and set aside
areas. Brad Wiseman stated that trees could be relocated.
Jody Barnett — preserve areas comment here. Brad: Gardens of Woodbury looks bare
because of exotic vegetation. 78 -3 on page 3 near the bottom.
Donna Wisneski said the Board members were encouraged to take this list home to study
and be able to discuss at the next meeting on November 8, 2006. This will enable to
Board to better exercise their judgment to make strong suggestions to the Council.
Landscape Code — Brad Wiseman distributed the Landscape Code to Board Members
and asked them to review the contents and bring any questions or comments to the next
meeting.
Magnolia Bay — maintenance personnel were blowing debris into street. Donna Wisneski
asked if she should call the Code Enforcement office to look at the problem. Brad
Wiseman stated he would discuss it with a Code Enforcement Officer and ask them if
there is a code they are violating and see what could be done.
Jody Barnett told Board Members that on Saturday, October 7, at 9 a.m. there would be a
walk - through at the PGA Park by the Parks and Recreation Department and the general
public. She invited members to join the walk - through and make comments.
Bill & Jody discussed directions.
