1 3. UPDATE BY STAFF LIAISON
2 Nina Nokolova, Alternate Staff Liaison, provided the Board with an update on the
3 Donald Ross Village art. The staff has taken pictures of the art pieces in question
4 and this matter has been turned over to the City's Code Enforcement Division. The
5 Code Enforcement Division sent out a notice of violation to the property manager
6 which requires them to address the violation within 15 days' time. Brad Wiseman,
7 Staff Liaison, will provide an update to the Board at the July meeting.
8
9 Charlotte Presensky, Interim Development Director, provided the Board with an
to update on the PGA Flyover. A company has been hired to inspect the art work and
11 they have started the appropriate analysis and testing on the metal. A draft summary
12 report should be available in 30 days. Once a determination is made regarding what
13 is happening with the metal, the appropriate steps will be taken to begin to repair the
14 problem.
15
16 4. OLD BUSINESS
17 Charlotte Presensky, Interim Development Director, provided an update on
18 purchasing an art piece in memory of Marilyn Spungin. The Board may purchase a
19 piece of art since it is being displayed for the public. These funds are available
20 through the Art Impact Fund. The dedication of the piece would have to come from
21 the City Council. In respect to Marilyn's family, it was decided to contact them
22 prior to making any purchase. The artist being considered, Karen Hackman, will be
23 contacted to possibly join the next meeting and make a presentation to the Board on
24 some possible pieces of art available to purchase. The option of a call to artists was
25 discussed and it was decided to put out a call to local artists only.
26
27 Charlotte Presensky addressed the Lakeside public art acquisition. The Board
28 decided to put out a call to artists and view the pieces available for purchase from
29 the artist Chihuly. The Board did decide that whichever piece they purchase, it will
3o be placed directly inside of the lake. At next month's meeting they will view some
31 of the possibilities available for purchase.
