July 17, 2007
Minutes
The Art in Public Places Advisory Board met on July 17, 2007 in the Council Chambers of the
Municipal Complex, located at 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.The
meeting was called to order by Chair, Lee Bickford at 5:30 p.m. and opened with the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Lucy Keshavarz — Consultant, Gardens Commerce Center
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes from June 19, 2007 approved 7 -0.
UPDATE BY STAFF LIAISON
• Brad Wiseman, Staff Liaison, provided update on the Donald Ross Village art.
• Donald Ross Village Project has maintained art at City's request.
• Legacy Place contacted and irrigation sprinkler head at the Obelisk was rerouted.
OLD BUSINESS
• Lakeside Art
• Charlotte Presensky, Interim Development Director, provided update on the Lakeside
public art acquisition.
• The Board was given choice of purchasing art by Call to Artists or Call to a Single Artist.
Three voted no and four voted yes to do a Call to Artists.
• Sizes, lighting and colors of pieces was discussed.
• Artists are encouraged to visit the site, photographs are in the RFP for artists unable to
visit.
• $200,000 was budgeted to include all facets of design and installation.
• October the soonest the Board could expect a response from artists.
• Continue discussion at the next meeting
• Request for another 30 days to contact Palm Beach Gardens artists and discuss results at
next meeting. Members agreed.

• Gardens Commerce Center Art
• Lucy Keshavarz began portfolio workshop, geographical boundaries provided.
• A budget change to $40,416.50 from $50,000.
• Several artists were reviewed and three finalists were considered.
• The piece Andalusia by Jorge Blanco was chosen
• Board will return in August for final recommendation.
• Submission to City Council by September /October.
• Anticipated installation in February 2008.
• A one -year guarantee of the aluminum sculpture is offered and an engineering inspection
indicated it could withstand hurricane winds of 115 mph.
• Dedication piece to Terry Thomas is anticipated in the fall.
NEW BUSINESS
There was no new business to discuss.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:43 p.m.
