Items by the City Council Liaison and Staff Liaison Councilmen Clark asked if the members has seen the partially completed Gateway sign on PGA Boulevard? The consenses of the committee is that it looks nice. Mark said it is to be landscaped with lights. Bettie was especially happy. Bettie still wants a street sweeper in the future since it was not budgeted. Councilman Clark say that they kept the B &E golf- shirts. Jeff asked if the City has received any feed -back on the signs. Councilman Clark had not. Bettie remembers the articles that described the sign as a pot leaf. Mark's opinion was that for another City committee to use a reduction of the Gateway sign as a community entrance sign was a compliment to the B &E Committee, even through they did not get any recognition. Short conversation began on who is building the Gateway sign — Public Works and a private contractor, and where is the next sign going — possible location at the old Hibiscus Restaurant corner of PGA Blvd. and Ellison Wilson. Old Business Mark could not locate the Burns Road (west of 1 -95) landscape plan. Councilman Clark asked why. Mark states that it is very conceptual and City Engineer Dan Clark is still making changes. A short discussion about Burns Road improvements east of Alternate A1A began. Funding is being requested from the County. Councilman Clark explains that there are similar medians west of 1 -95 as proposed east of Alternate A1A. Burns Road has to be narrowed some under 1 -95. Bettie asked if it would look like Holly Drive? No was the response. Mark says there is parking in the Community Center, Weiss School and RA CO AMO projects that have to be adjusted. He explains the Oak trees, FP &L lines, and the pedestrian under -pass are all considerations. Work needs to begin soon to help relieve the PGA Boulevard flyover construction. Bettie repeats the need for a street sweeper. Jeff states that the Alternate A1A landscaping is looking good. Committee members remark about how good Catalina Lakes is looking. New Business Mark tells the Committee that the date they picked for Arbor Day was also Veterans Day. He automatically changed the City Council proclamation date to November 12, 2000. He has contacted Jon Iles of Public Works to coordinate the tree planting and found out that he had already scheduled a tree planting at the Palm Beach Gardens Elementary School on Monday, November 13, 2000. The School has agreed to plant a tree to memorialize a student that died this year. They do not have a problem celebrating Arbor Day at the same time. Mark asked the Committee to consider this option. A motion was made to have Arbor Day in conjunction with memorial at PBG Elementary School. It was seconded and approved. The time will be during school hours. Committee members remarked about how nice the Grand Opening was in October. Sally asked about the construction on the north side of Northlake Boulevard next to the Seniors Center. Mark advise everyone that that project is in the County and it is called "A Place of Hope." It is being a Christ Fellowship Church project. Bettie asked about any update on Palm Beach Community Church. Mark talks about a possible signal light at Hickory Drive. The Church does not have concurrency. Motion to adjourn was made and seconded. Meeting ended around 6:35 p.m. The next meeting will be December 6, 2000.
