Wednesday, July 2, 1997 Minutes
The tape recorder did not record the July 2, 1997 meeting. The following minutes
are based on City Forester Mark Hendrickson's account of the meeting:
Jeff Renault called the meeting to order at 5:45 P.M. The following members were
in attendance: Donna Amado, Jeff Renault, Sheryl Snyder, Susan Wood, and
Bonnie Sanchez. City Council Liaison David Clark and Staff Liaison Mark
Hendrickson were also present.
Mark Hendrickson stated that, unless the Committee changed the meeting to a later
hour, Dr. Herron would have to resign. Latter in the meeting the Committee
discussed this request, and the majority agreed to keep the 5:30 P.M. meeting time.
The May 7, 1997 B & E Committee meeting minutes were approved.
Councilman David Clark addressed the Committee as to the status of the City
gateway sign and funding. He also thanked the Committee for their work on the sign
package. Mark Hendrickson explained that the FDOT City limit signs had been
made, put the permits had not been submitted to date. He was still hopeful that the
permits would be approved within the next couple of months and some signs,
including the gateway sign at PGA Boulevard and the turnpike should be installed by
the end of the year.
A brief discussion about the beautification award occurred. Councilman Clark
indicated it was a good idea.
Discussion about planting the Arbor Day tree at the Palm Beach Gardens High
School began. Susan Wood presented a video tape of the four entrances to the
high school. The Committee asked Mark Hendrickson to look into the following:
• Call County Forester Mike Greenstein or the Arbor Day Foundation to see if
palms can be planted for Arbor Day.
• Call the Principal at the PBG High School to see if there is any objection to
planting on their property for Arbor Day.
• What the City /School might accept as to some demarcation of the tree
planting by the Committee?
• What was the status of the street tree planting program?
It was agreed that the Committee would try and meet every month through the
summer. Mark would call the members, and if there was not going to be a quorum
the meeting would be canceled.
Motion was made to adjourn.
