Aldred, Councilman Kiedis, Councilwoman Monroe, COUnCilfnan Martino,
and Councilman K!selevskr. City Manager John Orr and Attorney George
Baldwin were also in attendance. (`.ote: The City Clerk administered
the "Ozth of Office" to Donald Kisclevski, the successful candidate in
the tlarch 17, 1981 Run -Off Election, it her office this date.)
APPOINfOENT OF A MAYOR OF THE CITY
Councilman Aldred, as Temporary Chairman, opened the floor to nomina-
tions for Mayor.

"1'd like to place the name of i1r. Dicl Aldred in nomination. Dick
has seined this community and Its residents exceptionally well for
three years. T[I& residents of this City apparently agree, recently
returning him to office and it was big vote of confidence -- he
received the largest margin of victory of my candidate and it is
many people's opinion that he represents what Palm Beach Gardens is
n71 about. He is a family man active in relioous, recreational.
civic activities and many of his activities has served in leadership
capacities. He has demonstrated his ability on this Council by being
City Council Special (Organizational) Meeting, 3119181 Page 2
Vice Mavor this past year and on two occasions was Acting Chairman
Clue to thr Mavor's absence and demonstrated an ability to lead
mm this Council in an efficient manner. During the time that I have
TV known him, he h7s filled all of his Council responsib2lities and
rncre. I did a little research this pest week. In the 22 years of
this Cltv's existence, no Mayor, When elected, had served more than
three years on the Council - None. Mr. Aldred has served those
i•hree ycors, Only five Vice Mayors were not elevated to the posi-
tion of Mayor and in each or those five cases, it was clue to the
fact that tnev were no longer on the Council due to either a resig-
nation or choosing to not run or being defeated. The residents of
this City have shown that the; believe in him and though not mandated
by riur own laws, I think that tie deserves this position and that we
should elevate him to the position � rr,,yor."
Councilman Aldred, as Temporary Chairran, relinquished the gavel /chair
to Councilwoman Monroe.

for Deputy Treasurer.

Deputy Treasurer. (Councilwoman Monree declined the nomination: and
then, after realizing she was nominated For "Deputy Treasurer" rather
than anything oti-*r, she withdrew her declination.)

Treasurer be Closed,

RFSOlUTIOV ' %1, With no objections from the other members of the Council, Mayor Kiedis
Aft 1981 requested that Resolution 21, 1981, be read in full by the City Clerk.
The City Clerk read Resolution 21, 1981 in its entirety ti;ith the names
"Dick Aldred" and "Linda Monroe" .inserted, in that order, in the blanks
ADJOURNMENT.
of Section 1 and the names "John Kiedis", "Mike Plartino ", and "Donald
Xisrlc\a ski" in sorted, in theft order, in thin blinks of Sectioii 2.
The members of the Council voted unanimously in favor of the motion
made by Vice Mayor Martino, seCunued by Councilman Kiselewsk_, to
adopt Resolution 21, 1981, appozntinq :'c Deputy treasurer and dcoignat-
ing signatures for the various bank accounts of the City.
With no further business, the meettna adjourned at 8:17 P.M..
