The major leaks that the pool has had over the years that were patched in the past, have been taken care of after a complete two week shut down and a joint effort of Public Works, Parks, and outside contractor. *Pool heater should become a reality with the upcoming budget 1994/1995 and we will then have year round programs. *Burns Road Community Center has a new roof and new air condition unit. Finishing touches still being done. Internal damages from the water in the gym have been budgeted for in the 1994/1995 budget. In the fall we will get estimates and arrange to have the internal projects done. III OLD BUSINESS: *In -line hockey program is being held at Plant Drive Park with 150 participants and a turn -away of about the same number as participating. *Lake Catherine lighting has strong support of Y.A.A. and a large number of their members intend to attend the city council meeting to show their interest in the project. • *With the Master Plan the recreational fields will be done in phases to accommodate RECOGNIZED AS THE #1 PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN THE NATION WINNER OF THE NATIONAL GOLD MEDAL AWARD activities. Meetings continue to be held supporting the complete Master Plan for a November bond referendum. *The Oaks Park Plan Design Meeting with the community is scheduled for June 28th. IV NEW BUSINESS: *All of our Parks and Recreation Advisory Board members terms expire 7 -7 -94. Those interested in being reappointed should put in writing their desire to continue to serve on this board. We then will request from council that we be allowed to reappoint all eligible board members along with a special exception allowing Jeff Sabin to continue an additional year, due to his involvement in the major issues before our board. It was suggested that Braxton Melvin be called regarding his participation on this board, since he has been absent from the past four consecutive meetings and has only attended four meetings of this board since September, 1993. There will be a need to appoint a new member, due to Betsey Yerry, no longer being eligible, after serving on this board since January, 1984. V MEMBERS REPORTS: *No member reports were given. *It was agreed by all members present that there would be no meeting in July. The date of the next meeting will be decided and announced at a later date. Respectfully submitted, Dee Schneider Administrative Secretary L CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS • PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT 4404 BURNS ROAD PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL 33410 (407) 775 -8270 TO: Parks and Recreation Advisory Board FROM: Susan Miller, Director /Parks and Recreation DATE: June 2, 1994 RE: Agenda for June 7, 1994 Advisory Board Meeting ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- AGENDA I APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES - May 10, 1994 II DIRECTOR'S REPORT: *Pool • *New roof • III OLD BUSINESS: *Master Plan *Lake Catherine Lighting *In Line Hockey Program *The Oaks Recreation Plan IV NEW BUSINESS: *Terms for Advisory Boards Members V MEMBERS REPORT: RECOGNIZED AS THE #1 PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN THE NATION WINNER OF THE NATIONAL GOLD MEDAL AWARD • • ADVISORY BOARD ATTENDANCE RECORD Advisory Board: PARKS AND RECREATION Date: June 7, 1994 Next Scheduled Advisory Board Meeting: Summer Break - Next monthly meeting to be announced ATTENDANCE - PRESENT Jeff Sabin, Chairman Betsey Yerry Ronnye Sands Sandy Gottlieb John Elsner Rick DeKeyser, Y.A.A.
