PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
JANUARY 5, 1993
The City of Palm Beach Gardens Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
met on Tuesday, January 5, 1993 at the Burns Road Community Center.
Members present included: Chairperson Ronnye Sands, Sandy
Gottlieb, John Elsner, Ellen Finnerty, Braxton Melvin, Jeff Sabin,
Betsey Yerry. Staff present included: Parks and Recreation
Director Bobbie Herakovich. Others included: Y.A.A. President,
Tom Heller.
• I Concurrency for Parks and Recreation
Jeff Sabin reported for the long range planning subcomittee:
*Subcommittee met and reviewed parks and recreation concurrency
guidelines.
*Asked Board to review guidelines so the Director could take
them to the City Council as a Park and Recreation Advisory
Board recommendation.
Director Herakovich presented the possibility of the Bent Tree
Development by M.I. Homes.
*Used this as an example for how to determine
Parks and Recreation concurrency.
II Y.A.A.
Tom Heller, President of Y.A.A., reported on the Y.A.A. sign
ups for baseball and softball.
*Members inquired as to the non - resident ratio of participation
*Director Herakovich asked for a report on participation for
the 1991 -1992 season for the next meeting.

III Miscellaneous Comments:
*John Elsner asked how to revitalize the idea of a regional
park.
*It was suggested that the long range planning committee review
this idea again.
*Braxton Melvin expressed concern fiver youth basketball program
age groupings.
*Plant Drive Park basketball courts to be completed the week of
January 11th.
The meeting adjourned at 9:50 P.M.
