MILITARY TRAIL PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL 33410 (407)775-8270 MINUTES PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETING APRIL 6, 1993 The City of Palm Beach Gardens Parks and Recreation Advisory Board met on Tuesday, April 6, 1993 at 7:30 P.M. at the Burns Road Community Center. Members present included Chairwoman Ronnye Sands, Ellen Finnerty, Jeff Sabin and John Elsner. Members not present included: Betsey Yerry, Braxton Melvin, Sandy Gottlieb, Council Liaison Eric Jablin and Y.A.A. President, Tom Heller. Staff present included: Parks and Recreation Acting Director Sue Ruskay. I APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes from March 16, 1993 were approved by all present with no need of additions or corrections. • II OLD BUSINESS: *Klock Building on Burns Road, a storage facility, has a wall that could possibly accommodate Recreation by allowing their large wall to be converted to a racquetball wall. *Needs Assessment Survey was discussed in depth and Ellen Finnerty marked up a copy with all the recommended changes and suggestions for formatting. *The wordperfect disc with the Needs Assessment Survey was requested by both Jeff Sabin and Ellen Finnerty and a copy was provided them to see if they can have it re -done with all new recommendations. *Bulk mailing for Needs Assessment Survey is being investigated and volunteers are being lined up to give us April 26th as a target date for the mailing. Anticipated return of the survey to be May 7th. *There will be certain residents who receive the survey who will not be interested in completing it. . we are adding a note that "If it is not possible for you to complete this survey, would you kindly pass on to someone who is interested. Your City Needs You!" • *Level of Service will be addressed at the May meeting and Kim Glas will be invited to attend. RECOGNIZED AS THE #1 PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN THE NATION WINNER OF THE NATIONAL GOLD MEDAL AWARD • II NEW BUSINESS: *Eric Jablin is the new Council Liaison and will be at the next Advisory Board Meeting. *Bobbie Herakovich is now the Acting Assistant City Manager *Sue Ruskay is now the Acting Director of Recreation *Bleachers are loose on east side Tanglewood field, repair or replacement must be done ASAP. New bleachers are to be ordered. *A suggestion had been made that signs be posted throughout city parks and recreation areas, regarding presence of dogs, etc. The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
