WORKSHOP MEETING
CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS
JUNE 25, 1992
The Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, was called to order at 7:40
P.M. by Mayor Martino in the Assembly Room of the
Municipal Complex Building, 10500 North Military Trail,
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Present at this meeting were Mayor Martino, Vice Mayor
Russo and Councilwoman Monroe. Councilman Aldred was not
in attendance, as he had a previous appointment.
Councilman Kiselewski was not in attendance, as he was out
of town.
LANDSCAPE CODE Mark Hendrickson, City Forester, reviewed the proposed
Landscape Code indicating additions and deletions made
from the previous workshop meeting.
Per a consensus of the City Council, the following
additional amendments were made to the Landscape Code:
1. Page 2, Section 153.02, " Hardscape", "add mulch and
bark" to the definition.
2. Page 4, Section 153.03, last sentence, direction was
to exempt single family and duplex units from this chapter
(landscaping and tree protection) and not allow homeowner
associations to deviate from the approved landscape plan.
3. Page 6, Section 153.05, B.2., delete "County ".
4. Page 7, Section 153.05, B.4.d., add "which are" before
"required" in line 3.
5. Page 9, Section 153.06, Add 116. Installation of a
fence(s)."
6. Page 10, Section 153.07, A. line 4, delete "non-
living landscape" and insert " hardscape" before

"material ".

7. Page 13, Section 153.07, B., delete "Inside and"
8. Page 13, Section 153.07, C. 2., delete "adjacent
property" and add "not generally travelled by the public
or visible from adjacent structure ".
9. Page 13, Section 153.08, B., staff was directed to
have Attorney Brant review and provide an opinion on "good
cause".
10. Page 19, Section 153.12, E., add "feet" after 11(15)"
in line 1.
11. Page 22, Section 153.12, G, delete the 1st sentence.
12. Page 22, Section 153. 12, change lettering beginning
with "G" .
13. Page 23, Section 153.12, A., add "and update by
Resolution from time to time" in 1st sentence after
"establish ".
14. Page 25, Section 153.12, G.2., change "a" to "an"
after "provide ".
15. Page 25, Section 153, 12, G.2.c., delete "irrigation"
and add "which irrigate ".
16. Page 25, Section 153.12, G.2.d., change "previous" to
"pervious ".
17. Page 25, Section 153.12, G.2.e., add "scale" after
"minimum "; delete "ion" on "exception "; and, delete "Use
of non- potable water for the irrigation of lawn and plant
material is required when determined to be available. ".
18. Page 26, Section 153.12, G.3., delete "canals" in
line 1.
19. Page 27, Section 153.40, B.1., delete "B. 1." and
insert "Any parcels of land which is the subject of a
current valid development order or upon which a structure
has been heretofore erected prior to effective date of
this Ordinance shall not be required to conform to the
requirements and regulations of this Ordinance except for
those requirements and regulations with respect to
maintenance of landscaped areas and removal of existing
vegetation."
20. Page 28, Section 153.40, B.2., staff was directed to

get written opinion from City Attorney and to use the Site
Plan and Review ordinance for the major items to be
listed.
ADJOURNMENT
APPROVAL
21. Page 29, Section 153.40,G. 2 & 3, add "as determined
by the approved entity and /or Board ".
22. Page 33, Permit Fees. Consensus to not include in
Landscape Ordinance, but to approve by Resolution.
The City Council directed staff to get with the City
Attorney to prepare an ordinance for first reading on July
16, 1992.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting
as adjourn at 9:20 P.M.
