HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 091291CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL REGULAR MEETING CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS SEPTEMBER 12, 1991 The Special Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, was called to order by Mayor Martino at 8:00 P.M., in the Assembly Room at the Municipal Complex, 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. ROLL CALL The roll was called by the Deputy City Clerk, and present were: Mayor Martino, Councilman Kiselewski, and Councilman Russo. Vice Mayor Aldred and Council- woman Monroe were not in attendance. ORDINANCE 26,_ 1991 Mayor Martino declared the Public Hearing open, which was duly advertised on Property Tax Bills, and held on the intent of levying a tax on real and personal property located within the corporate limits of the City of Palm Beach Gardens, for year ending 12/31/91; affixing a total valuation thereon and tax rate there- on for said year; adopting a fiscal budget for the Fiscal Year beginning 10/1/91 and ending 9/30/92, inclusiv,2; appropriating funds for expenditures. Mayor Martino stated the proposed millage rate, in- cluding debt service, is 3.372, a slight reduction of last years millage of 3.431. Mayor Martino advised the City is requesting an increase in funding, much of which is due to insurance increases, and solid waste 0 needs. 1 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL REGULAR MEETING, 9/12/91 . Mr. Bruce Carpenter, 9904 Honeysuckle Avenue, Palm Beach Gardens, addressed the City Council stating his taxes increased by 25% this year and asked the Council to explain the most significant reasons for the in- crease. Councilman Kiselewski states: the increase was due to the increase in the property assessment, over which the City has no control. Councilman Russo explained that although some property assessments increased, others decreased, and that the overall assessed valua- tion for the City increased by only about 4 %. Tentatively approving the proposed millage rate and budget, by consensus of the City Council, the Deputy City Clerk read Ordinance 26, 1991, by title only.
