We are just waiting for the Naval Reserve to move out. We hope that this building will solve the over crowding of our classes, and provide for new programs. The Holiday Bazaar was the next item discussed. The Bazaar will be held on December 1st and 2nd. Registration went smoothly and the spots filled up fast. Most of the people got in due to a change of one space per person. There are still 25 people on the waiting list. The Bazaar will be totally held indoors. Doug Hood is in- terviewing now to fill this position. "QUALITY LEISURE SERVICES ... JUST FOR YOU" NATIONAL GOLD MEDAL AWARD FINALIST 1987 and 1988 2 The next item up for discussion was the tennis program. The program is expanding rapidly by the addition of more • league teams in Men's, Women's, and Youth divisions. This also means a greater need for more courts. There was dis- cussion of a need for a new tennis complex to accommodate the increased interest at the present facility or another location. A study was suggested to maximize use of the present facility. Ball fields were the next topic of discussion. It was sug- gested that a big pavillon and a longer jogging trail be in- cluded with the new ball fields on Burns Road. The Lake Catherine Sports Complex will have three fields which will be 225 feet with fences, and another one will be 300 feet with a fence. Bermuda grass will be used at this site. There will be a plaza with three flag poles (City, State, and American flags). Also there will be a center scoring tower, concession stand with restrooms and storage for equip- ment. There will be eight foot sidewalks, and back -to -back bleachers. Half moon backstops will be used, and there will be parking for 120 cars. Included in this site will be a 1/4 mile walking trail, and a large open area for a passive park. At this time there is no decision whether or not the walking trail will be lighted. The basic overall plan is approved by the Board.
