SPECIAL REGULAR MEETING
CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS
AUGUST 8, 1985
The Special Regular Meeting of the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens,
Florida, was called to order by Mayor Linda Monroe, at 7:30 P.M., in the
Assembly Room, 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The Special Regular Meeting was held to discuss the narrowing down of the
list of applicants to fill the position of Police Chief.
The City Manager suggested that three of the applicants be brought back
for additional interviews because two of the Council members were not
present for the initial interviewing process. The three applicants were:
James Powers, assistant police chief in Williamsburg, Virginia; Lt. Col.
Ronald Newbauer, director of law enforcement for the U.S. Marine Corps.;
and Philip Petley, an FBI special agent working in Jacksonville.
The three gentlemen will be able to fly down the weekend of August 24,
1985 for said interview.
Also suggested by the City Manager was the hiring of Lt. Jack Frazier of
the Florida Highway Patrol, to fill the position of Inspector, if he
desires to accept.
A motion was made to accept the City Managers suggestion and hire
Mr. Frazier for the position of Inspector for the City, and to bring the
three gentlemen to the City for an additional interview. The motion was
unanimously adopted.
