HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Reorganizational meeting 031584CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL (REORGANIZATIONAL) MEETING CTTV OF PA-:I BEACH GARDENS MARCH 15, 1984 The Special (Reorganizational) Meeting of the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, was called to order by Mayor Dick Aldred at 8:00 P.M., in the Assembly Room at the Municipal Complex, 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. ROLL CALL: The roll was called by the City Clerk and present were: Mayor Aldred, Vice Mayor Kiedis, Councilman Martino, Councilwoman Monroe; and Councilman Kiselewski. City Manager John Orr and Attorney William Brant were also in attendance. RESOLUTIONS: By the concurrence of the Council, the City Clerk read, in full, Resolution RESOLUTION 20, 20, 1984, declaring the results of the General and Special Referendum 1984 Elections held March 13, 1984. REORGANIZATION: ADMINISTER OATHS OF OFFICE The City Clerk administered Oaths of Office to Michael Martino, Dick Aldred, and Donald L. Kiselewski, candidates elected March 13, 1984 to the City's Group 1, Group 3, and Group 5 seats, respectively. APPOINTMENT OF TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN TO SELECT A MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR By a unanimous vote of the Council, Councilman Aldred was appointed temporary chairman to select a Mayor and Vice Mayor of the City. APPOINTMENT OF A MAYOR OF THE CITY Councilman Aldred opened the floor to nominations for Mayor of the City. Councilman Aldred relinquished the gavel /temporary chairmanship to Councilman Kiedis; and nominated Councilwoman Monroe for Mayor of the City. ; 43 .� Councilman Kiedis relinquished the gavel /temporary chairmanship back to Councilman Aldred, and nominated Councilman Martino for Mayor of the City. By a unanimous vote of the Council, nominations for Mayor were closed. Councilman Aldred, temporary chairman, called for the question. City Council Special (Reorganizational) Meeting 3/15/84 page 2 Councilman Aldred and Councilwoman Monroe voted for Councilwoman Monroe; and Councilman Kiedis, Councilman Martino and Councilman Kiselewski ® voted for Councilman M &rtino as the Mayor of the City. Councilman Martino was appointed the City's March /1984 - March /1985 Mayor by three affirmative votes of the Council. APPOINTMENT OF VICE MAYOR OF THE CITY Councilman Aldred, temporary chairman, opened the floor to nominations for Vice Mayor of the City. Councilman Kiselewski nominated Councilwoman Monroe for Vice Mayor of the City. By a unanimous vote of the Council, nominations for Vice Mayor were closed. Councilwoman Monroe was appointed the City's March /1984 - March /1985 Vice Mayor by acclamation. APPOINTMENT OF TWO DEPUTY TREASURERS OF TILE CITY Councilman Aldred, temporary chairman, opened the floor to nominations for two Deputy Treasurers of the City. Councilman Aldred relinquished the gavel /temporary chairmanship to Councilman Kiedis; and nominated Councilman Kiedis and Councilman Kiselewski as the two Deputy Treasurers of the City. By a unanimous vote of the Council, nominations for two Deputy Treasurers of the City were closed. Councilman Kiedis and Councilman Kiselewski were appointed the two March /1984- March /1985 Deputy Treasurers of the City by acclamation. Councilman Kiedis relinquished the gavel /temporary chairmanship back to Councilman Aldred. APPOINTMENT OF A CHAIRMAN PRO -TEM OF THE CITY IN THE ABSENCE OF BOTH THE MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR Councilman Aldred, temporary chairman, opened the floor to nominations for Chairman Pro -Tem of the City. Councilman Martino nominated Councilman Kiedis for Chairman Pro -Tem of the City. ® By a unanimous vote of the Council, nominations for Chairman Pro -Tem of the City were closed. City Council special (Reorganizational) Meeting, 3/15/84 Page 3 Councilman Kiedis was appointed the City's March /1984 - March /1985 Chairman Pro -Tem by acclamation. RESOLUTIONS: By tLu concurrence of the Council, the City Clerk read, in tull, RESOLUTION 21, Resolution 21, 1984, appointing Councilman Martino the Mayor and 1984 Councilwomar Monroe the Vice Mayor of the City. Resolution 21, 1984 was unanimously adopted by the Council. RESOLUTION 22, By the concurrence of the Council, the City Clerk read, in full, -1984. Resolution 22, 1984, appointing the Deputy Treasurers and designating signatures for the various bank accounts of the City. Resolution 22, 1984 was unanimously adopted by the Council as read with the names of Council members "John Kiedis" and "Donald L. Kiselewski" inserted in the blanks of Section l.' and the names of the Mayor, "Michael Martino ", the Vice Mayor "Linda Monroe ", and Council member "Dick Aldred" inserted in the blanks of Section 2. ADJOURNMENT. With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:21 P.M..
