SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS
FEBRUARY 12, 1981
The Special Meeting of the, City Council of Palm Beach Gardens was
called to order by Mayor Feeney at 8:00 P.M. in the Assembly Room,
10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and opened
with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
ROLL CALL: The roll was called by the City Clerk and present were: Mayor Feeney,
Vice Mayor Aldred, Councilman Kiedis, Councilman Lau--le, and Councilwoman
Monroe. ALtornev George Baldwin was also in attendance.
PURPOSE_: CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF PLANS FOR EXTENSION OF FIRE DEPARTMENT'S TRAINING
-� BUILDING
At their Workshop Meeting of January 21, 1981, the Council acknowledged
receipt of a communication from Fire Chief Edward Arrants, requesting
norm ss,on for the department to add another story to their training
building, enabling them to have fire drills with the aerial ladder truck.
Subsequently, the Council referred the plans for this project to the
Site Plan and Appearance Review Committee for their recommendation.
At their regularly scheduled meeting or February 10, 1981, the Site Plan
and Appearance Review Committee recommended to the Council approval of
the plans presented by the Fire Department for the expansion of their
training building, but suggested that the plans be upgraded to a level
that is In conformance with the requirements of the City's Site Plan and
Appearance Review Code and construction not commence until the engineering
data is cc. ,mete.
Subsequent to Mr. E. B. Shearin, Jr., a member of the City's Fire Depart-
ment as a volunteer, answering inquiries of the Council re: this proposed
project, a motion was unanimously adopted that "the information the
Council has regarding adding one story to the Fire Training GUilding be
approved, contingent upon an acceptable laboratory ieport on the test
boring for the soil bearing capacity; and also, signed, sealed, and
dated d.:awings for this project by the Engineer ".
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8.14 P.M..
