SPECIAL MEETING
PALM BEACH GARDENS CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 24, 1981
TIME AND PLACE:
A Special Meeting of the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens was held at the City Lem -
plea on Tuesday, February 24, 1381.
CALL TO ORDER - ROLL CALL:
The rnceting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
PRESENT: Mayor Dick Feeney, Vice Mayor Dick Aldred, Councilman John Kiedis, Council-
man Sam Laurie, and Councilwoman Linda Monroe. The City Manager, John Orr, and the
City Attorney, William Brant, were also in attendance.
PURPOSE OF MEETING:
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the selection of an Architect for the Community
AIAL Center and to review the fee schedule and th? Standard Form of Agreement between the
IFowner and the architect.
The City Manager gave the Council the fee structures for other projects within Palm
Beach County, and after discussing this and other items, it was the opinion of the
Council that the architectural fees were within acceptable range for this type of project.
A motion was made by Councilman Laurie to accept the contract with Oliver £ Glidden,
with the exception of the deletion of Article 9 of the AIA Document 13141 Standard Form
of Agreement Between Owner and Architect, 1977 Edition, and that a Resolution be signed
by the Mayor and City Clerk to solidify the contract, and the reason for this action at
tnis Special Meeting, which was properly advertised, is due to the escalating cost of
building in south Florida, along with the need to obtain monies from Bankers Life £ Cas-
ualty Company to begin the community center project as soon as possible.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Kiedis. Motion was unanimously approved by the
City Council.
