*-COUNC'ILWU- ;AN Councilwoman ,Monroe reported on the Beautification and Environmental
MONROE: Committee's meeting of June 10, 1981, however there was not a quorum
present.
CJ'J;:CID-Ai: Councilman Kiaelewski reported that on Monday June 15, 1981, he
Ki3 LcLSCI: attended an all day Seminar presented by the Department of Comw,unity
Affairs, and found it very informative.

"AFTi "r= soliciting for "pool memoerships" suggesting that they come to the
homes of residents who have ;;cols to set their timer.; for certain
hours of the day to conserve energy, and are offering gifts as a
reward for tnose who conserve enemy.
Vice mayor Martino suggested that perhaps a Resolution could be
drawn up b;' the City Attorney expre" y our concern, to Florida
Pow,ar and Light that, instead of offering gifts, they should save money.

calls the Police Department is gettinc, from certain businesses within

City. Fcr° instance, in May, 77 false alarm calls were reportea.

Councilwoman Monroe: suggested that perhaps these businesses could
be charged after a certain amount of calls were received to help
alleviate this problem.
The City ,Manager stated he is looking into this matter with the
Police Department and will provide the members of the Council an
update on the number of calls for the 1st meeting in July, and
concurred with Councilwoman Monroe's suggestion that they consider
charging businesses whose alarms go off more than usual.

Bill Fendelander of l0lo2 iIcridian Way, PEG, addressed the
Council, thanking tnem for the work that has been done to the
Publix Shopping Center on A -1-A.

Mr. Robert Langsfeld, 9646 Althea Slay, P30, requesting that the
pot holes on FGA Boulevard Just nef -,- the C -18 canal be taken care
of.
Mr. Langsfeld also reciested the acceleration of the proposed Tree
Ordinance, now in the process of ',ding retyped for the Council's
review.

In response to Bill i ?ark'r;a,., PBG, the City : °1anager reported that
the money b. }dgcted in the State's budFct for recreation is for
5 additional locations fcr state ;:arcs.
Mr. 6Ii: -Lam Snannon, Attorney representing Mr. Otto B. Divosta,
of Divvosta Construction, and Cliff Burg of shell Construction,
was in attendance to respc)nd to the gift offer of a swimming pool
complex that wad made 2 creeps ago through the sale of the house
built on Mlay 1, 1931, and the net proceeds of that house acct oned
off being 4155,CCIO, to result from the closing to be 'yield June 19,
19,1. The net proceeds will oe transferred to the City and later
transferred to shell Cnnstruction Company as general contrac
to construct the }pool complex: to be located on the 12 acres o;,, ,ed
by the City on Burns Roud. Mr. Shannon presented the site plans

The Council requested an update as to how many people have

requested variances on utility buildings and how many have actually
appeared before the Zoning Board of Pppeals regarding this.
The City Manager stated for th- record that the Comprehensive
Plan is in accordance with the Comprehensive Planning Act cf 11175,
paged by t :ie Florida Legislature. Thi3 gives cities methods and
ways to proceed in developing their mun�.cipa11ties Ln an orderly
fachio�, takinT into consideration the economic balance necessary
to rc;t�ln tt,e life: t;rle they would like to have. 1t is not "cast

During the Wor,cshoo session on Ordinance 11, 1981, imposing a
firefighting equipment /facilities fee on developers of buildings
exceeding two stories, Vice !IaYor Martino stated that what they
are attempting to do is facilitate the services of the firefighting
capabilities in the City with additional revenues from sources
that would impact us as far as equipment is concerned. Fe also
wanted to take more time with this OrdDmpnce in order to obtain
more input from the Fire Chief relati-re to -other municipalities
havina a similar Ordinance.

,,r. Marvin HM, the City's Contracted Lana Use Planner, who
was instrumental in helping prepare this plan and map, was in
attendance to answer questions from the public regarding the Plan
and Mao, Mr. Hill stressed the fact- that the document i..self,
containing policies etc. is the plan, the map is a part of it.
Subsequent to their discussions on the Comprehensive Land Use
Plan, Mayer Kiedis declared the Public Hearing closed.

COUNCILMAN KISELE'r7SKI: Councilman Kiselewski stated he has been requested by several
residents regarding an Ordinance to restrict people from parking
in the grassed swale areas.
the Deputy City Clerk was requested to ;end out to the members of
the Council, a draft of an Ordinance that was proposed a couple of
years ago which prohibited parking in the swale areas.
COUNCILWOMAN MONROE: Councilwoman Monroe reported on a recent meeting with County
Commissioner Peggy Evatt and one of the main topic discussed was
the wi-dening of A -1 -A. Commissioner watt stated that this was
not at the top of the County's rriority list at this time and
sh, :ugaested that the City pass a Resolution to the County
Corrmission regardin,, the ,,rid-ning oC F -1 -A and to also encourage
the caner cities at this end of the County wno use A -1 -A to
foilo:a -up with personal contact T!ith the other members of the
County Commission,patting Ares- on t'iem.
