SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS
AUGUST 13, 1979
The Special Meeting of the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens was called
to order by Councilman Dick Aldred at 7:00 P.M. in the Assembly Room, 10500
North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
ROLL CALL: The roll was called by the City Clerk and present were: Councilman Aldred
and Councilman Feeney. City Manager John Orr was also in attendance. Mayor
Laurie and Councilman Martino were not in attendance due to business commit-
ments; and Vice Mayor Kiedis was not in attendance as he was on vacation.
Since this meeting was held for the purpose of receiving public input, a
quorum of the Council was not required.
PUBLIC HEARING ON POSSIBLE USES OF FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING FUNDS
Councilman Aldred declared the Public Hearing open, which was duly advertised
August 2, 1979 and held in accordance with Section 51.13 of Public Law 92 -512,
amended by Public Law 94 -488 of the State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act,
giving all citizens an opportunity to present written and oral comments on the
possible uses of Federal Revenue Sharing funds. The City anticipates receiving
$82,320.00 in entitlement payments for the Fiscal Year 1979 -80 plus prior year
appropriated funds of $2,271.05.
Mrs. Linda Monroe, Secretary of the City's Beautification and Environmental
Committee, addressed the Council re: the Committee's proposal to utilize
Federal Revenue Sharing funds to beautify certain areas of the City, including
the sodding of medians on Holly Drive for approx. $1920.; locating and land-
scaping City identifying signs at 6 entrances for approx. $1,392.; and land-
scaping the northeast and southeast corners of the intersection of Lighthouse
and Holly Drives for approx. $320.00.
The Committee also proposed that the City contract a Landscape Architect to
prepare a Landscape Master Plan for the City Hall area at approx. $25 a hour;
locating irrigation systems within certain medians on PGA Boulevard; land-
scaping the parking lot on the east side of the City Hall Complex; and
landscaping the City Hall identifying sign. The information supplied by the
Beautification and Environmental Committee is attached and made a part of
these minutes.
There weren't any written comments received by the City by citizens on the
possible uses of Federal Revenue Sharing funds.
