CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS
AUGUST 2 2, 1973
PURPOSE: A Workshop Meeting to discuss the 1973 -74 General Fund Budget for
the City of Palm Beach Gardens was held at 8 :00 P.M. in the Assembly
Room, 10500 N. Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Present
were: Mayor Ki.edi,s, Vice Mayor Dunbar, Councilman Martino,
Councilman DeLonga and Councilman Wiley. The City Attorney was
excused from the meeting.
DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
The following items were reviewed and preliminary adjustments
made as follows:
EXHIBIT 12 - FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Account 103: Salaries and Wages - The salary for the Custodian
Driver was adjusted to Range and Step 24 -1 at $7703.28 reducing this
account to $18,203.28.
Account 490: Other current charges - The Council concurred with
Chief Arrant's recommendation that the City pay for the membership
to the State Firemen's Association for each member of the Volunteer
Fire Department. This account was increased in the ammount of
$224.00 for this purpose making a total of $1154.00.
Account 503: Field Equipment - This account was reduced to
$7050.00. The item Miscellaneous Equipment for Van ($1,500) to be
taken from the Revenue Sharing Account and the item Polaroid
Camera and Portable Tape Recorder was reduced to $150.00.
EXHIBIT O8 - POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Account 229: Maintenance and Repairs - This account was reduced to
$150.00.
Account 290: Other Contractural Services - Account 101 Medical exams
in the amount of $225.00 was placed in this account making a total

Account 303: Operating Supplies - This account was reduced to
$1800.00.
Account 503s Field Equipment - The item I.D. Camera in the amount
of $1,500 to be taken from the Revenue Sharing Account leaving a
total of $172.00 in this account.
The City Manager reported the figure of $22,772.88 as a cost to the
City for dependent coverage for all eligible employees, and the
amount reported for matching funds for retirement contribution in the
amount of $32,000.00 was correct.
Councilman DeLonga suggested contacting Mr. Tuttle at Palm Beach
Junior College regarding available State funds to cover some of
the budgeted items in the Police Department.
Councilman Martino suggested the use of two -way radios for the
school guards at major intersections such as AlA and Lighthouse
Drive.
The Contingency Fund in the amount of $10,000 was transferred from
General Government to Mayor and Council.
ADJOURNMENT. No further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
