HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 032272CANVASS OF VOTES CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS SPECIAL MEETING MARCH 22,1972 A Special Meeting of the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens was held at 5 :15 P.M. at 10500 N. Military Trail for the purpose of canvassing the votes of the General Municipal Election of March 21, 1972. The meeting was opened by Mayor DeLonga with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. ROLL CALL: Roll was called by the City Clerk. Present were: Councilman Orr, Councilman Kiedis, Vice Mayor Wiley and Mayor DeLonga. Mr, Carlson, City Manager and Attorney Brant were present. ABSENTEE BALLOTS: Absentee Ballots for the Election were opened by the City Clerk and announced as 3 votes for Walter H. Wiley, III, 3 votes for James C. DeLonga, 2 votes for E.B. Shearin, Jr. and 1 vote for Gordon J. Dunbar, Jr. These votes were totaled with the reports submitted by the Election Clerks and Inspectors, and entered in Resolution #15, 19729 Declaring the Results of the Election. RESOLUTION #15 Declaring the results of the General Election of March 21, 1972 was RESULTS OF read by the City Clerk on a motion by Vice Mayor Wiley seconded by Councilman Orr. Vote to read 4 ayes and O nays. Motion to adopt Resolution #15 by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Kiedis. Vote 4 ayes and O nays. FOR THE RECORD: Vice Mayor Wiley stated for the record that items called to his attention were an occurrence of the City Fire truck driver, who is not an employee of the City, who in jest announced support for one of the candidates in one area only; there was also a car parked close to Precinct 47 with signs for one of the candidates, and, Precinct 45 did have a jammed machine, which was no problem. Councilman Wiley stated that he felt the results of the Election were not Canvass of Votes Meeting March 22, 1972 ADJOURNMENT. Page 2 influenced by these. Council felt the candidate's election signs should be discouraged in the polling area. Meeting adjourned on a motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Kiedis.
