JANUARY 6, 1971
Mayor DeLonga opened the Special Meeting of January 6, 1971, at 7:00 PM with
the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor DeLonga announced that the purpose of the
Special Meeting was to canvas the votes of the Special Election of January 5,
1971, and to discuss the construction of the City Hall Complex with the
Architects, Eugene Lawrence Associates, and the Contractor, Ed Desrochers.
ROLL CALL: Roll was called by the City Clerk. Present were:
Councilman Prentiss, Councilman James, Vice Mayor Wiley,
Mayor De.Longa. Attorney Brant, City Manager Robert Carlson,
were present. Also present were Eugene Lawrence, Architect
and Associates; Ed Desrochers, Desrochers Construction Co;
and the members of the Planning and Zoning Board of the
City.
RESOLUTION #1 Resolution #1, declaring the results of the Special Election
CANVAS OF VOTES of January 5, 1971, was read by the City Clerk. Motion to
adopt Resolution #1 was made by Councilman Prentiss, seconded
by Vice Mayor Wiley; unanimously adopted by a 4 to 0 vote.
John L. Orr, Jr. was the newly elected Councilman.
OATH OF OFFICE City Clerk, Thelman Compton, administered the Oath of Office
to Councilman John L. Orr, Jr., and congratulations were
extended by the City Council.
DISCUSSION WITH Council discussed the progress of the new City Hall with
CONTRACTOR AND Ed Desrochers and Eugene Lawrence. Mr. Desrochers stated
ARCHITECT that his completion date for the City Hall was February 5,
1971, barring any unforeseen holdups. Council was in accord
to table and wait for additional information and recom-
mendations from the Architect.
PAYMENT TO (buncii authorized payment of $40,409.13 to Desrochers Con -
CONTRACT: struction Company for work completed on the City Hall in
accordance with Application No. 8, on a motion by Vice
Mayor Wiley, seconded by Councilman Prentiss. Vote 5 ayes,
0 Nays.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion for adjournment by Vice Mayor Wiley, seconded by
Councilman Prentiss. Time for record, 7:55 PM.
