HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 101171MINUTES BUDGET WORKSHOP MEETING October 11, 1971 PURPOSE: A Workshop Meeting to discuss the 1971 -1972 General Fund Budget for the City of Palm Beach Gardens, was called to order by Mayor DeLonga at 8:00 P.M. The Meeting was held in the Office of the City Manager, Palm Beach Gardens' City Ball. Present were: Mayor DeLonga, Vice Mayor Wiley, Councilmen James, Orr and Kiedis. The City Manager, R. Carlson, and the City Accountant, Mrs. Woodward, were also present The City Clerk and City Attorney were excused from this meeting. DISCUSSION & RECOMMENDATIONS: The expenditures for City Clerk were reviewed and the Council un- animously agreed to the following adjustments: Account #207 - Auditing & Legal Notices: This account was reduced from $1,000.00 to $750.00. Account #208 -C - Professional Services: Deleted $500.00 from this account. Account #212: Elections: Reduced from $1,000.00 to $750.00. Account #600 - Capital Outlay: This account reduced from $300.00 to $150.00. The expenditures for Municipal Court were reviewed and the Council unanimously agreed to the following adjustments: Account #102 - Secretarial Salaries: Increased from $225.00 to $475.00. There shall be no fee when the City Clerk functions as Court Clerk. When other than the City Clerk acts as Clerk of the Court, that person will be paid on the basis of time- and -a -half from 5:00 P.M. to the time Court adjourns. The expenditures for Engineering was reviewed and this account%as reduced from $2,000.00 to $1,500.00 by unanimous agreement of the Council. October 11, 1971 Page -2- DISCUSSION & The above adjustments resulted in a decrease of $900.00 to the RECOMMENDATIONS: (Continued) General Fund Budget, 1971 -1972. Department Head Salaries were discussed and it was also unanimously agreed by the Council to adjust the current basic salaries as follows: Chief of Police: Increased to $10,660.00, annually. Finance Department, Accountant: Salary increased to $8,060.00, annually. It was unanimously agreed by the Council to grant a 4% Cost of Living Increase to all Municipal Employees and to create a 3% Fund for Merit Increases for all Merit System Employees. Merit increases of 0 to 7% will be granted, based on an Employee Performance Review. The City Manager was instructed to compile a list of office machines and advertise for bids for maintenance and service contracts on same. One additional employee, classification "Parks and Recreation Maintenance" was authorized for the Parks and Recreation Department, and one additional employee, classification "Mechanic" was also authorized for the Vehicular Department. The General Fund Budget for 1971 -1972, will be placed on First Reading on Thursday, October 14, 1971. There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 11:50 P.M.
