SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS
April 3, 1970
PURPOSE: Mayor Blanck called a Special meeting for Friday, April 3, 1970 at
5:15 and held at the City Hall on Burns Road. He stated the purpose
of the meeting was to consider awarding the bid for the Municipal Building
which had been received and opened on March 24, 1970.
QUORUM The City Clerk was directed to call the roll. Present were: Council=
man Bonner, Councilman Prentiss, Councilman James and Mayor Blanck.
Vice Mayor Walker could not be present. Attorney Brant and City Manager,
Robert Carlson, Eugene Lawrence and Hedley Prout, Architects, were
present.
RECOMMENDATION Mr. Lawrence explained where various options could be taken and made his

recommendation to the Council stating he would like to see the City
proceed with the building at the low bid of $323,829 as there were
options to reduce this amount which would not affect the function of the
building. Some of the deductions he had arrived at amounted to a total
of $17,979 and further evaluation of plans will be negotiated and pursued
Drainage at the site of the Complex was discussed and Mr. Searcy will be
contacted for consideration for canal coverage. Site work and jail
facilities were also discussed and will be further evaluated.
AWARDING BID Mayor Blanck stated he would like to consider awarding the bid to the
low bidder, DesRochers Construction Co.
Motion by Councilman Bonner to award the base bid to DesRochers Construc-
tion Company in the amount of $323,829 and seconded by Councilman Prentiss.
Voting 4 ayes and 0 nays.
Mr. Lawrence requested that Attorney Brant review the contract with him
before it is completed and officially signed. He stated there would
be a time extention of 30 days on awarding the optional bids.
ADJOURN No further business and motion to adjourn by Councilman Prentiss, seconded
by Councilman Bonner. Unanimously approved.
