HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 110270 SpecialSPECIAL MEETING CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS NOVEMBER 2, 1970 A Special Meeting of the City of Palm Beach Gardens was called to order at 8:00 P.M. at 3704 Burns Rd. with Vice Mayor DeLonga presiding. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. PURPOSE: The purpose of the meeting was: 1. To consider the adoption of Ordinancc #14, 1970 establishing a cut off date for the acceptance of written applications for Building permits that require a tie -in to the Sanitary Sewer System and a final date for approval of same. 2. To consider payment to Desrochers Construction Company in the amount of $26,793.00 for work completed at the City Complex as certified by the City's Architect. ORDINANCE #14 Ordinance #14 was read in full by the City Clerk. Motion to adopt by BUILDING PERMITS CUT OFF: Councilman Prentiss seconded by Councilman James. Council discussed the effective date to cease issuance of Building Permits and set the date at 5 P.M. on November 3, 1970. After review and discussion of the �-- Ordinance Council unanimously voted to amend: Section 2 to be sub- paragraph C of Section l and to insert the dates for processing written applications at "November 3, 1970 at 5 P.M. and that all required documents be submitted by 5 P.M. November b, 19709" and Section 3 be renumbered to read Section 2 and Section 4 read Section 3. Representatives from Hicks & Lockwood Construction Co., Vince Pappalardo and Atty. Royce, Dr. Gerson, John Ridella, S & R Construction were present to express their views and state their cases. Mr. Bob Munsell, building inspector was present and presented the Council with figures of the permits in his office to date. Vice Mayor DeLonga polled the Council on the alternative to issue Building Permits with no insurance of a Certificate of Occupancy and the vote was unanimous to not issue permits after the cut off date. Council instructed Mr. Carlson to consult with Mr. Lukin regarding assurance of certificates of occupancy on permits issued to the cut -off date. Page 2 Special meeting 11/2/70 Council voted unanimously to dispense with second reading waiting period as an emergency existed. Motion to adopt Ordinance 14 as amended by Councilman James seconded by Councilman Prentiss and unanimously adopted. Service Attorney Brant was instructed to contact the Florida Public Commission and proceed to get an answer to the Sewer problem and explore all possible means for resolving the situation. PAYMENT TO Payment to DesRochers Construction Co. was authorized unanimously by the DE S CONST. CO. Council on a motion by Councilman Prentiss seconded by Councilman Wiley. Payment was for $26,793.00 for work completed on the City Complex. ADJOUY&3QNT Meeting adjourned at 11:15 P.M. on a motion by Councilman Prentiss seconded by Councilman Wiley.
