Mayor Jewett presided. 2. Minutes- -None. 3. Reports - -Mr. Carlson, City Manager, reported on the meeting with Mr. C. Anderson from Bankers Life on the drainage easement from Municipal Complex. To meet with Mr. Garnett soon. 4. Petitions & Communications. Read letters from the State Representatives and Senator Thomas on repeal of Tax Assessing Legislation. Trailers at PGA for the tournament in January will be acted on by Resolution. Motion by Councilman Bonner seconded by Councilman Prentiss. Vote 4 -Ayes and 0 nays. Christmas in Dixie discussed and Motion by V.Mayor Blanck to enter parade seconded by Councilman Bonner. Vote 4 ayes and 0 nays. Letter from Lloyd Herold complimenting the Police Department on action after his robbery. 5. Ordinances: Place Ordinance #19 - Compensation for Mayor and Ordinance #20 - City Manager's salary on Agenda for October 27, 1969. 6. Resolutions: Permitting trailers at RCA on Agenda October 27, 1969. Motion by Councilman Bonner, seconded by Vice -Mayor Blanck. Vote 4 Ayes and 0 Nays. Resolution appointing Mr. Walter Pangburn to Board of Appeals on Agenda by motion Councilman Prentiss, seconded by Vice -Mayor Blanck. Vote 4 Ayes and 0 Nays. 7. Old Business: Council discussed the Tax Reform Act as presented by the Municipal Finance Officers Association and directed the City Manager to contact either direct, by phone or letter the two Senators, to strike provisions from the Bill. Mr. Carlson reported that the sidewalks on Military Trail should be started about October 20, 1969. WORKSHOP MEETING Page 2 October 20, 1969 8. New Business: a --The County's purchase of Beach Front Property was discussed as brought up by Vice -Mayor Blanck, and resulted in the Council deciding to draw up a Resolution to the County stating the City was in favor of purchase of Beach Front Property. Motion by Vice -Mayor Blanck seconded by Councilman Bonner. Vote 3 Ayes and 1 Nay. Councilman Bonner, Vice Mayor Blanck and Councilman Prentiss voted Aye. Mayor Jewett voted nay as he felt that the County had not informed the public of exactly what portion they planned to purchase. Voting on the expenditure of $6,0001000 will be on November 4, 1969. b- -Mayor Jewett directed the City Attorney to review the Home Rule Bill and to present the Council with what is necessary to comply with the Bill. c- -Study of the subdivision Ordinance Bill will be reviewed. d- -Mayor Jewett approved payment of the bill for Architect in the amount of $2400 from the Construction Fund. (New Complex) 9. Announcements: Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Public Hearing 10/4/69. Board of Appeals Public Hearing 10/5/69 10.
