HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 120869REGULAR MEETING CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS DECEMBER 8, 1969 REGULAR MEETING The Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Palm Beach Gardens was held on December 8, 1969 at 8:00 P.M., 3704 Burns Road. Vice Mayor Blanck presided. QUORUM Roll was called by the City Clerk with Councilman Bonner and Councilman Prentiss and Vice Mayor Blanck present. Councilman Walker arrived at 8 :15 P.M. Mayor Jewett was absent due to illness. City Manager, Robert H. Carlson and Attorney Brant were present. AWARD TROPHYS Vice Mayor Blanck and Recreation Director Woody Dukes presented GOLF TOURNAMENT trophies to the winners of the City Golf Tournament held on the 30th of November. Winners were: Bill Herman, City Champion, George Bonner & Romeo zamberletti, tie for Mayor's trot)hy, Joan Runkei, Ladies Champ and Betty Iverson, Mayor's trophy. MINUTES Minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 24, 1969 were approved on a motion by Councilman Bonner, seconded by Councilman Prentiss. Vote 3 ayes and 0 nays. MDNTHLY REPORTS Monthly reports of the Public Works, Building, Recreation, Fire and Police Departments were reviewed by Vice Mayor Blanck and approved by the Council. OLD BUSINESS Vice Mayor Blanck reported that the City had received letters from Congressmen regarding the need for a Post Office in the City, and stating our requests were being referred to the Postal Department at Washington for further evaluation. Vice Mayor Blanck reported on a meeting he attended for integratior of schools and stated he would attend another meeting on Tuesday, December 9, 1969 if any one would like to attend with him. Mr. Carlson will attend. NEW BUSINESS Councilman Walker suggested that the ball fields be checked for Page 2 improvements which might be necessary for the coming season. Vice Mayor Blanck expressed his appreciation and thanks to all the volunteers for their participation and assistance in promoting the little league football teams. Thank you card from Mayor Jewett's family for the flowers sent to his mother -in -law was presented. Council discussed the Public Hearing to be held Friday by County Zoning Board on rezoning of property adjoining highway A -lA and located 300 or more feet from the City boundary line, with the decision that this change would not affect the City a great deal and would not delegate anyone to attend. ADJOURNMENT No further business and Councilman Walker moved to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Bonner. Time 8;55 P.M. Council remained after the meeting to discuss and review with the architect and City Planning Committee on the new City Complex. Plans and site view were presented by Architect Eugene Lawrence.
