REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
April 22, 1968
REGULAR. MEETING The regular meeting of the Council of the City of Palm Beach
Gardens was held on April 22, 1968 at 8:00 P.M. with Vice
Mayor Earle presiding.
QUORUM Roll was called by the City Clerk with Councilman Brown, Jewett
and Walker and Vice Mayor Earle present. Mayor Bonner arrived
at 8:30 P.M. being late as he attended an official business
meeting elsewhere.
MINUTES OF Motion by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Walker that
4 8 68 waived
the reading of the minutes of the Regular meeting of April 8,
1968 be waived and approval be by each Councilman's signature.
Voting was 4 ayes and no nayes.
ORDINANCE #12 Motion to read Ordinance #12, Annexing the south side of P.G.A.
Blvd. at the Intracoastal Waterway was by Councilman Walker
seconded by Councilman Brown. Vote to read Ord. #12 was 3 ayes
and one nay. Councilman Brown, and Walker and Vice Mayor Earle
voted aye and Councilman Jewett voted nay. Ordinance #12, 1968
was read by the clerk on second reading by title only and with
reading the deletion of Parcel 1. Motion to adopt as amended
was by Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Walker. Voting
on the motion was 3 ayes and 1 nay. Councilman Brown and Walker
and Vice Mayor Earle voted aye to adopt and Councilman Jewett
voted nay.
ORDINANCE #14 Motion to read Ordinance #14,1968 Rezoning the South side of
P.G.A. Blvd at the Intracoastal waterway on first reading was by

Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Walker. Voting was 3 ayes
and 1 nay to read. Councilman Brown and Walker and Vice Mayor

Earle voted aye and Councilman Jewett voted Nay. Hearing
was scheduled for the regular meeting of May 27, 1968.
Ordinance #14 was read in full on first reading by the
City Clerk.
ORDINANCE #4 Motion to read Ord. #4, 1968, Swimming Pool Ordinance was by
SWT3RZT7UG-FOOLS
Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Walker. Vice Mayor
Earle ruled there would be no discussion on first reading in
answer to the question by Councilman Jewett. Voting on the
motion to read was 4 ayes to 1 nay. Mayor Bonner, Councilman
Brown and Walker and Vice Mayor Earle voted aye and Councilman
Jewett voted nay to read. The City Clerk read Ord. #4 in full.
Councilman Jewett moved to discuss Ord. #4 as read on first
reading seconded by Councilman Walker. Voting on the motion was
4 nayes and 1 aye; Councilman Brown and Walker, Mayor Bonner
and Vice Mayor Earle voted nay and Councilman Jewett voted aye
to discuss. Motion did not pass.
ORDINANCE #16 Motion to read Ordinance #16,Amending the sign Ordinance #18,1967
SIGN ORD.
WAS by Mayor Bonner seconded by Councilman Brown. Voting on
the motion was 5 ayes. Ord. #16, 1968 was read on first reading
by the City Clerk.
RESOLUTION #15 Motion to read Resolution #15,1968, Entering into an agreement
AGREEMENT with Frank C. Brown & Co. was by Councilman Brown seconded
by Mayor Bonner. Voting was 5 ayes and Res. #15 was read by the
Clerk and adopted by the Council on a motion by Mayor Bonner
seconded by Councilman Brown; voting was 4 ayes and 1 nay.
Mayor Bonner, Councilman Brown & Walker and Vice Mayor Earle
t. voted aye and Councilman Jewett voted nay to adopt. Motion
Passed.

OLD BUSINESS The Council agreed to hold the hearing on the Zoning Ordinance
on May 6, 1968 with discussion on the Swimming Pool Ordinance
held over to May 20, 1968.
Councilman Brown commended the Teens Unique for their contributions
of money and support to charitable organizations of the area in
the past year. The Council was in accord.
Mr. Poston assured the Council there would be signs placed along
the roadside showing Palm Beach Gardens entrances and stated
the signs were tentatively approved and he was waiting for a
site approval by a member of the State Road Department.
Mayor Bonner read the Proclamation for Law -day May 1 and would
try to attend the Court session scheduled for this Special Day.
The Council commended the Fire Department for their splendid
volunteer help in fighting the fires over the weekend of which
there were 5 in all.
Mr. Poston was directed to send letters of thank you to the
building contractors who have furnished material for bleachers.
Florida Development Co. and Castle Homes were last week's
contributors of material.
Mr. Poston reported on the lights at the ball field and
recommended that the fee for use of the lights for the first
night be waived for the Khoury League and Softball League for
testing only.

ADJOURNMENT No further business and motion to adjourn was by Mayor Bonner
seconded by Councilman Walker.
