HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 051368CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL May 13, 1968 REGULAR MEETING The regular meeting of the Council of the City of Palm Beach Gardens was held on May 13, 1968 at 9:00 P.M. with Mayor Bonner presiding. QUORUM Roll call was called by the City Clerk with Councilman Brown, Jewett and Walker present. Vice Mayor Earle was absent as he attended the School Board meeting representing the Council on the development of the roads in the new high school area. MINUTES Motion by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Walker, that the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 22, 1968, be waived and approval be by each Councilman's signature. Voting was 4 ayes and no nays. DEPARTMENT REPORTS Mayor Bonner gave a condensed report of each of the Departmental Reports of the month of Agiland discussion followed by the Council. ORDINANCE #16 -1968 Motion to read Ordinance #16 -1968, Amending Sign Ordinance #18 -1967, AMENDING SIGN ORD. #18 -1967 by title only on second reading, was by Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilman Brown. Voting was 4 ayes and no nays. Ord. #16 -1968 was read by the Clerk and adopted by the Council on a motion by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Walker. On discussion of the motion, Councilman Jewett stated for the record that he was opposed to any signs on I -95. Voting was 3 ayes and 1 nay. Councilman Brown, Walker and Mayor Bonner voted aye and Council- man Jewett voted nay. ORDINANCE #17 -1968 Ord. #17 -1968, City Manager's Salary, was read by the Clerk on FIXING CITY MANAGER'S SALARY first reading on a motion by Councilman Brown, seconded by Council- man Walker. Voting was 4 ayes and no nays. MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING, MAY 13, 1968 Page 2 RESOLUTION #16 -1968 Res. #16 -1968, Tax Assessor's Salary, moved to read by Councilman �- TAX ASSESSOR'S SALARY Walker, seconded by Councilman Brown. Voting was 4 ayes and no nays. Res. #16 -1968 was read by the Clerk and adopted by the Council on a motion by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Walker. Voting was 4 ayes and no nays. OLD BUSINESS Motion authorizing the City Manager to accept the bid of Cornelius, EMPLOYEE BONDS Johnson and Clark for bond on all employees and special bond for Treasurer and Tax Collector was by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Walker. Voting was 3 ayes to 1 abstaining. Councilman Jewett abstained from voting because of family relationship ANNOUNCEMENTS Announcement was made of the Hearing on Ordinance #14 -1968 - Rezoning the Southside of P.G.A. Blvd. at the Intra - Coastal Waterway to be held May 27, 1968. Also, an announcement was made for the Hearing on Ordinance #4 -1968, Swimming Pools, for May 20th Workshop Meeting. OTHER BUSINESS Councilman Walker presented several items of vandalism that were taking place at the Playground area and stated the Council would decide how to handle these happenings in the near future. Mayor Bonner presented a request from the NPB -PBG Jaycees for a donation of $500.00 for a shark contest. The Council did not approve. ADJOURNMENT No further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Walker. Time for the record 8:55 P.M.
