REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
June 10, 1968
REGULAR MEETING The Council of the City of Palm Beach Gardens met at City Hall
June 10, 1968 at 8 :00 P.M. for Regular Meeting with Mayor Bonner
presiding.
QUORUM Roll call was called with Councilman Brown, Councilman Walker,
Vice Mayor Earle and Mayor Bonner present. Councilman Jewett
was on vacation.
MINUTES: Motion by Vice Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman Walker, that
the reading of the minutes of the regular meeting of May 27, 1968
be waived and approval be by each Councilman's signature. Voting
to approve was 4 ayes and no nays.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS
Mayor Bonner reviewed each of the department reports for the
month of May with discussion from the Council.
RESOLUTION #18 -1968 Resolution 18 -1968 - appointing Alice Jean Kerslake as a Deputy
APPOINTING DEPUTY
CLERK, ETC. Clerk, Deputy Registrar of Elections, Deputy Tax Collector and
Deputy Tax Assessor was read by the Clerk on a motion by Vice
Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman Walker. Vote was 4 -0 to read.
Resolution #18 -1968 was adopted by the Council on a motion by
Councilman Brown, seconded by Vice Mayor Earle with a vote of 4
ayes and no nays.
RESOLUTION #19 -1968 Resolution #19 -1968 was read by the Clerk on a motion by Vice Mayor
SIGNATURES ON STATE
ROAD DEPT. CONTRACTS Earle, seconded by Councilman Brown. Resolution #19 -1968 was
adopted on a motion by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman
Walker with a vote of 4 ayes and no nays.

ORDINANCE #18 -1968 The Council discussed the revised budget items at length and
REVISED BUDGET
Mayor Bonner recommended that Ordinance #18 -1968 be moved into
first reading. Vice Mayor Earle moved to read, seconded by Council-
man Brown. Voting was 4 ayes and 0 nays. Ordinance #18 -1968 was
read by the Clerk on first reading. Notice of action on Ordinance
#18 -1968 will be posted for the two weeks prior to second reading
and adoption.
ANNOUNCEMENTS Mayor Bonner announced the tax sale held on June 7, 1968 with
amount of sale being $175.17 and purchased by the City.
OTHER BUSINESS Mayor Bonner discussed with the Council the possibility of putting
sidewalks in the center of Holly Drive median and directed the
engineer, Howard Searcy, to come up with a figure that could be
used in the 1968 -69 budget. The Council also discussed sidewalks
for Lighthouse Drive to the school or a bridge on the Earman River
which will be investigated by the Engineer. The drainage problem
was discussed at length with the engineer stating the problem
areas have been investigated, and the Council asked that City
Manager Poston proceed with the drainage problems quickly as there
are appropriated monies in the present budget. Howard Searcy,
City Engineer, was instructed to prepare Call for Bids for dragline
to widen Earman River at the problem area.
BEAUTIFY I -95 Beautification of area surrounding I -95 was presented and Howard
Searcy, City Engineer was asked to contact the State Road Department
regarding planting of shrubs, which he will do on a trip to Ft.
Lauderdale.

DAM & DRAINAGE Engineer Howard Searcy was instructed by the Council to bring

figures on the cost of an automatic gate at the dam site on
Thompson River.
MRS. BAIRD'S Drainage at her homesite has been a problem and requested the
DRAINAGE PROBLEM
Councils' aid. The Council assured Mrs. Baird that problem
areas will be taken care of soon and also assured her that the
Rutenberg Construction Company would be notified to remove some
of their obstacles which would give more drainage to her property.
BEAUTIFY SHOPPING Mrs. Saad asked if the City could help the Beautification Committee
PLAZAS
of the Women's Club in purchasing of trash containers for shopping
areas providing the business agreed to purchase a container. Atty.
Brant assured the Council of the legality as reimbursement would
be made thru the business to the Committee and then to the City.
AnJOURNMENT No further business and motion to adjourn was made by Vice Mayor
Earle, seconded by Councilman Brown. Time for the record was
9:25 P.M.
