CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS
REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 24, 1968
The Council of the City of Palm Beach Gardens met at City Hall
June 24, 1968 at 8:00 P.M. for Regular Meeting with Mayor Bonner
presiding.
QUORUM Roll call was called with Councilman Brown, Councilman Walker,
Councilman Jewett, Vice Mayor Earle, and Mayor Bonner present.
MINUTES Motion by Vice Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman Walker that the
reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 10, 1968 be
waived and approval be by each Councilman's signature. Voting
to approve was 5 ayes and no nays.
OPENING OF SEALED City Manager opened the sealed bids for the construction of Lilac
BIDS ON CONSTRUCT-
ION OF LILAC DR. Drive from the following:
1. Crabtree Construction Co. $10,293.00
2. Belvedere Construction Co. $10,553.40
3. Rubin Construction Co. $ 9,969.26
Vice Mayor Earle moved to accept the bid from Rubin Construction
Company for $9,969.26 if the City Engineer will approve the bid
as presented and see if it meets the specifications. Motion
seconded by Councilman Walker and approved by the Council on a
5 -0 vote.
RESOLUTION #20 -1968 Res. #20 -1968, Increase of City Clerk's Salary, was read by the
CITY CLERK'S SALARY
Clerk on a motion by Vice Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman
Walker. Voting was 5 ayes and no nays. Vice Mayor Earle moved
to adopt Res. #20 -1968, seconded by Councilman Jewett. Voting
was 5 ayes and no nays.

PAYMENT TO JAYCEES

Motion by Vice Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman Walker tp read
Resolution #21 -1968, Payment of $200.00 to Jaycees for July 4th,
and read in full by the Clerk. Voting was 5 ayes and no nays.
Motion by Vice Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman Walker that
Res. #21 -1968 be adopted as read with a vote of 5 ayes and no nays.
Councilman Brown recommended that the Jaycees present this item to
the Council each year for budget.
RESOLUTION #22 -1968 Res. #22 -1968, Appointing City Treasurer and authorizing for
APPOINTING CITY
TREASURER signature on City depositories, was read on a motion by Vice Mayor
Earle, seconded by Councilman Walker; voting 5 ayes and 0 nays.
Motion to adopt was by Vice Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman
Walker; voting 5 ayes and no nays to adopt. Mr. Poston stated
this was necessary as the present Treasurer - Bookkeeper had resigned.
ORDINANCE #19 -1968 Motion to read Ord. #19 -1968, Rezoning "M" District, present Zoning
REZONING "M" DISTRICT
Ordinance, was by Councilman Brown, seconded by Vice Mayor Earle.
Vote to read was 5 ayes and no nays. Ord. #19 -1968 was read by the
Clerk on first reading.
ORDINANCE #20 -1968 Motion by Vice Mayor Earle, seconded by Councilman Walker, that
AMENDING ORDINANCE
#16 -1966, CONTRACTORS Ordinance #20 -1968, Amending Ordinance #15 -1966, Contractors, be
placed on first reading and read in full by the Clerk. Vote was
5 ayes and no nays to read.
CORRESPONDENCE Mayor Bonner read thank you notes from the Animal Rescue League
for the City's $500.00 donation and from Garden Lanes for the use
of the flags.
OTHER BUSINESS City Manager Poston stated for the record that the dragline working
at the canal was not costing the City a cent. Mayor Bonner praised

Mr. Poston and Mr. Searcy, City Engineer, for their quick response
to getting this project started. He also stated that fogging of
mosquitos was being done regularly but at the most effective times,
mornings.
The Manager was instructed to get specifications and bids for a
sod stripper which would be used in drainage problems in the swale
areas. Councilman Brown stated drainage on Crestview was better
than ever with many calls of praise.
Mr. Poston stated that Military Trail from West Lake Park Road to
P.G.A. Blvd. will be paved by the State and that F.E.C. had been
contacted to correct drainage on their right -of -way from Burns Road
and Monet.
AD30URNMENT No further business and motion to adjourn was by Vice Mayor Earle,
seconded by Councilman Brown. Time for the record was 9:05 P.M.
