ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
QUORUM
.— PURPOSE OF THE MEETING
The annual Organizational Meeting of the Council
of the City of Palm Beach Gardens was held on
April 3, 1967, at 8 :00 P.M., at the Meridian
Park Clubhouse, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Mayor Diamond presided.
Mayor Diamond instructed Vice Mayor Hughes to
lead in the %Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
At the direction of the Mayor, the roll was
called. All of the Councilmen were present.
The purpose of the meeting was to seat the two
newly elected Councilmen, William D. Earle,
Councilman Group 2 and Norman E. Brown, Council-
man Group 4, and also to elect a Mayor, Vice
Mayor and Deputy City Treasurer for the coming
year and to appoint all department heads and
City Manager.
OATH OF OFFICE TO NEW Mayor Diamond stated that before the election
COUNCILMEN
of Mayor, Vice Mayor and Deputy City Treasurer,
the two newly elected Councilmen would be given
the Oath of Office. Mayor Diamond instructed
the City Manager to give the Oath of Office to
William D. Earle, Councilman Group 2, and
Norman E. Brown, Councilman Group 4. After
their Oaths, the Councilmen were congratulated
by the Council.

ELECTION OF MAYOR AND Mayor Diamond opened the floor for nominations
VICE MAYOR
for the office of Mayor. Motion by Councilman
Earle, seconded by Councilman Bonner that
Robert C. Diamond be nominated for the office of
Mayor. Motion by Councilman Hughes, seconded
by Councilman Earle that nominations for the
office of Mayor be closed. Mayor Diamond called
for the vote on the second motion. Vote was
5 -0 in favor of the motion. Mayor Diamond then
called for a vote on the first motion. Vote
was 5 -0 in favor of the motion.
Mayor Diamond then opened the floor for nomina-
tions for Vice Mayor. Motion by Councilman
Brown, seconded by Councilman Bonner that
James W. Hughes be nominated for the office of
Vice Mayor. Motion by Councilman Earle,
seconded by Councilman Brown, that nominations
for the office of Vice Mayor be closed. Mayor
Diamond called for the vote on the second motion.
Vote was 5 -0 in favor of the motion. Mayor
Diamond called for a vote on the first motion.
Vote was 5 -0 in favor of the motion.
Motion by Councilman Bughes, seconded by
Councilman Brown, that William D. Earle be
nominated for the office of Deputy City

by Councilman Bonner, that nominations for the

was 5 -0 in favor of the motion. Mayor Diamond
called for a vote on the first motion. Vote

Vote was 5 -0 in favor of the motion. Mayor
Diamond directed the Clerk to read Res. #16 -1967.
Motion by Councilman Bonner, seconded by Council-
man Earle, that Res. #16 -1967 be adopted as read
by the Clerk. Vote was 5 -0 in favor of the
motion. Mayor Diamond stated that the Council
had polled themselves earlier and had appointed
all department heads for another year. lie
complimented all department heads on the ex-
cellent job they had done in the past year.

Vote was 5 -0 in favor of the motion. Mayor
Diamond directed the Clerk to read Res. #17 -1967.
Motion by Councilman Earle, seconded by Council-
man Hughes, that Res. #17 --1967 be adopted as
read by the Clerk. Vote was 5 -0 in favor of the
motion.
ADJOURNMENT Motion by Councilman Hughes, seconded by
Councilman Brown, that the meeting be adjourned.
Vote was 5 -0 in favor of the motion. The
meeting was adjourned at 8 :32 P.M.
