The annual Board of Equalization was held Saturday, September 23, 1967, from
9:00 A.M. until 12 :00 Noon, At City Hall, 3704 Burns Road, Palm Beach Gardens,
Florida, for the purpose of equalizing the 1967 tax roll. Mayor Diamond called
the meeting to order at 9:20 A.M. and stated that all Councilmen and the Tax
Assessor were present.
Mayor Diamond then turned the meeting over to the City Tax Assessor, Mr. Bryan A.
Poston. The following petitions were reviewed by the Board of Equalization:
1. The first item on the agenda was a letter from Mrs. John R. Roob,
3858 Carnation Circle South, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, requesting
widow's exemption in the amount of $500.00 for the 1967 tax year. The
Council unanimously granted this exemption.
2. Mrs. Jennie C. Smith, 296 Balsam Street, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida,
requested widows exemption in the amount of $500.00 for the 1967 tax
year. The Council unanimously granted this exemption.
3. Mr. Thomas F. Lynn, 3148 Meridian North, Apt. 1, Palm Beach Gardens,
Florida, requested disability exemption in the amount of $500.00 because
of a heart condition. He submitted to the Council documents certified
by the Health, Education, and Welfare Department of the U.S. Government,
whereby he had been granted 100 percent disability, due to this heart
condition. Based on the facts submitted to the Council, the Council
unanimously granted this request.
4. A request was heard from Mr. Edward R. Young, 4375 Daffodil Circle North,
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for total exemption. Evidence was sub-
mitted to substantiate Mr. Young as a paraplegic. The Council unani-
mously approved total exemption for Mr. Young in the amount of
$23,500.00.

5. Willard C. and Mary Joe Arant, 9943 Daphne Avenue, Palm Beach Gardens,
Florida, requested a $1,920 reduction in the 1967 assessment due to
the physical condition of the home. The Council, after reviewing all
facts, denied the petition to reduce the assessment.
Mayor Diamond recessed the meeting at 9:59 A.M. because all items were cleared
to that time. Mayor Diamond reconvened the Tax Equalization Board at 10:30 A.M.
to review the complaint of Mr, Henry Jewett, on the assessment of his home
located at 4334 Magnolia Street, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Mr. Jewett re-
quested that the City reduce his assessment from $26,600.00 to $25,500.00. After
hearing all the facts relative to the case as presented by Mr. Jewett and the
Assessor, the Council unanimously denied his petition for this reduction in the
assessment.
Mayor Diamond recessed the Board of Equalization meeting at 11:35 A.M. as there
were no petitioners present.
Mayor Diamond reconvened the Tax Equalization Board at 12:44 P.M. Motion by
Councilman Earle, seconded by Vice Mayor Hughes, that the Board of Equalization
meeting be adjourned at 12 :45 P.M. Vote wa 5-0 in favor of the motion.
